This is my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Kansas City. They have a huge menu and everything I've had is excellent. The Raja dip is amazing and I've never seen it anywhere else and everyone I've had it with loves it too. I usually get the Cauliflower Zahra, the vegetarian entree option and it is so good. I crave it. Their lentil soup is the best I've had too. The service is a little slow but friendly and the food is definitely worth the wait. Love this place.
My wife and I ordered Aladdin Cafe for the first time. We had a $100 GrubHub gift card so we went all out. We got the Agrabah appetizer plate which is their most expensive app. The Baba ghanoush and Hummous were good but it also was supposed to come with pita, but we didn't receive any. Thankfully we had some pita chips at home. It was also supposed to come with feta but the amount given was very negligible. Same with the olives. We only got 2 (and I love olives) and they were canned black olives. You can find better ones at the store. I got the kifta khebabs which were good and my wife got the beef biryani. She said it was pretty good but it tasted flat to me. There was a lot of rice and 5 pieces of beef. Not sure that was worth the price. We also got the rose lemonade which was pretty good. The rosewater gave it a good taste. Without it, it would've just tasted like the powdered lemonade mix that it was. All in all the food was good but not great. Queens Sweets is better, I think, and cheaper. Lastly, we got the tiramisu. It said it had a hint of cardamom, but it just tasted like tiramisu. Nothing special, but it was satisfying. Maybe if we dined in it would've been better. Either way, with the way things are now, restaurants need to step up their game with takeout. Would take a lot for me to want to go back.
I got the appetizier shrimp and veggies!!! It was very filling for lunch!! It was my first time and it was very good and fresh!!
Probably wont go back wife wanted one star. Portions were great. She got the greek salad. They had no Italian dressing. Just this super sweet green stuff. Which we thought was bad till they mix up some pomegranate dressing That must of been made with suger and kerosene. Ice tea must been old cause it tasted fermented and super dark sent back. Never seen gyro meat that looked like like cut up patties. But tasted fine. Fact is meat rice and veggies were good. Service was great. Funny thing no body was in the restaurant at 5pm. And only 2 other couple at 6 when we left and those people said it was their first time. Seemed to have alot of take out bussiness. Maybe cause you can have your own dressing. ?it's all so on 39thst maybe we're just not cool.
Took out with me, and it was very delicious! Flavor of sauce was well balanced, chicken meat, salad was very fresh! Btw, next time would be perfect, if you add spoon for the rice:)
Relaxing atmosphere and curious staff. Great for a group of people or a quiet meal alone. Offers dine-in & carry-out. Reasonable prices With exquisite taste
Love love this place! Our server Jess was extremely nice and helpful and had great recommendations! The salmon kabobs are great. Another favorite dish is their ~Cauliflower Zahra~Roasted cauliflower seasoned with garlic and cilantro, served with basmati rice, pita, and tahini sauce. So many great things to say about this place! A 39th street favorite for sure.
Waitress act like she couldn't or didn't know how to take the order.... I asked for a gyro sandwich with feta cheese add fries instead of rice and I got gyro meat on top of fries I got it to go something told me to look it the box before I return to work. Went back in to ask so it doesn't come on pita bread this heffa got a attitude and said you wanted a kids meal I was so mad but being 7 months pregnant I just let it go and said NEVER AGAIN and she didn't even have on a mask ?
