Met an old friend here today as a rendezvous point after a big gap since our last get together. Such a quaint little restaurant that offered both indoor and it seating in a quiet atmosphere. Started out with an excellent cup of Americano coffee. After we reminisced for awhile, we decided to grab some lunch. After I perused the menu, an offering caught my eye & I opted to order the Aixois salmon burger with a side salad. It came in 20 minutes and was served hot. The special sauce had the perfect amount of spice that created a wonderful flavor. I’d suggest stopping here for a unique experience when in the area the next time.
Disappointed. Staff seems completely uninterested in customer service. The hostess informed us that a table of two was actually a table of 3 and that the empty patio was saved for parties of 4. Later we observed 3 tops seated at the four tops. Service was lax as well. We heard our server complain to tables and staff about basic customer service. We watched table after table around us, ignored and given excuses. It was our second time eating here and we ran into other guests while shopping in area and they too had similar disappointed experiences. Our neighbors were excited that we had gone and we were disappointed to share our experience.
This was our second time at this restaurant. Server John was very slow and not hospitable, he took about 20-25 minutes to greet us, and when we asked to order after sitting there waiting for him for 45 minutes he said he had been ready to take our order (but had not come by our table). Cheese board took 30 minutes to come out and had barely any cheese on it (2/3 of board was covered by toast, 1 slice of apple and 8 grapes). The two Hanger steaks came out cold and very small, smashed on the same plate as the salad and fries so the fries and salad were soaked in steak juices. Salmon pasta was cold as well. Creme brûlée had no flavor except the flavor of egg yolk and was extremely thick like Creme cheese. Tiramisu was okay but sloppily presented. Overall took 2 hours for us to get our food and eat, even though we were here between 1-3 which was extremely slow inside the cafe. Very disappointing for the price. We may try again, but would suggest Cafe Provence for an authentic and hospitable experience with top notch food
We love Aixois and try to come a few times a year for special occasions. Grandma started taking us here on the last night of her visits when our son was still very young because it was kid-friendly and they had quality food he would eat and food that we would love. Fast foward to his high school graduation--we wanted to go here of course with our "inner circle" after the ceremony but couldn't get in at night. Even afternoon was difficult but they accomodated our large party, even though I waited too long (waiting for the correct reservation number). Our server John was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable and the food was, as always, wonderful. Skate, pasta and dessert specials were wonderful, as were our go-to favorites, the trout and profiteroles. We wanted this day to be extra-special for our son and our guests, and as usual, Aixois did NOT disappoint and went above and beyond to make our meal (like every meal there) wonderful and special. No wonder they have lasted so long.
Beautiful cafe with dark & cozy indoor seating and bright & airy covered outdoor seating. Service was friendly, although not too knowledgeable about wines or pronunciations, but very happy to go back and check with other staff as needed.
I am French and honestly it taste like in France. The atmosphere is very nice and I recommend their moule marinière and trout. (I am usually a ribeye guy).
I can't remember my first time coming here, but I know it was many a moon ago. I know that it left an indelible impression upon me.I've been taken here for a surprise birthday dinner twice. I recall the first time tasting the moules au safran (mussels in a creamy saffron sauce with pommes frites [house-made french fries]). One of the most delicious meals I've ever had. Hands down. This was a few years ago, however. Most recently, I was taken here to celebrate my thirtieth birthday. I got a simple salmon burger with pommes frites (with an Orangina to drink.)The service, the ambiance, the food- all complimentary of one another. Everything was utter perfection.I'll be coming back here for many more birthdays.
Valentines date with Mike Atwood. Lovely atmosphere and perfect service. I plan to return soon for brunch.
My husband and I visited for the first time on a Monday during restaurant week for a lunch date. The food was fantastic, but the good ends there. Their website states that they are spacing out seating and also require masks. Neither is true. The place was packed, every table taken, and the staff were not wearing masks. Our lunch took over 2 hours (and we did make a reservation). We waited over 30 minutes for our dessert to arrive to be ultimately told that there would be no dessert. Didn’t offer a reason why. Then, just as we were getting ready to leave, our server came by with the dessert in a container. I don’t know if the service was incredibly slow because it was restaurant week or if this is their usual. However, what bothered us the most is that none of their staff were masked even though we are in the midst of another peak in the pandemic. Plus, they do state on their website that masks are required.
The food was marvelous. I had the spinach crepe. It had just enough spice in it to make it pleasing to the palate. The complementary French bread and butter put the icing on the cake for me. Though the prices might be a little high for some, it's worth every dollar spent. I'm glad that I tried this place.
