My friend from Barbados came into town and 1VP happened to be open late in the evening. It was my first time there and even though it was late and the oxtails weren't ready, the owner whipped it up for me special. The ox tails came with cabbage, peas and rice and I ordered a side of plantains. And of course you must top it off with a ginger beer!! My second trip was a to go order that I called in. I was pleased that it was ready in time and I didn't have to wait. Great food and great customer service. Will go back again and again.
I’m typing this as I finish eating it! This food is delicious!!! I heard great things about it, so I had to try it for myself and and I’m beyond grateful I did. Super friendly and professional staff and very reasonable! Plus, you get your money’s worth if not more! Amazing!! The service was very nice and the food was delicious. First of all, my boyfriend and I are from NY/Chicago and was looking for food like back at home. Randomly came across 1VP while visiting KC and was very pleased. We got the jerk chicken, rice/beans, cabbage, jerk Rasta pasta. The portions were hugeeeee! And again so good. We will be going back like next week lol.

I got the red snapper fish with extra sauce for my rice and let’s say So so flavorful. Customer service on point . I will keep coming back !
I went there for the first time during the SOUL FOOD TOUR 2022. I purchased the Curry chicken and jerk chicken with rice. They were pretty tasty. I also purchased the Jamaican Rum Cake which was good too. I'll probably return to try some other menu items soon.
Best Jamaican spot in the city no competition. Taste is identical to eating in Jamaica. Does make bland food like most most restaurants which is the key to authenticity! One of new go to restaurants in the city!
Ordered shrimp pasta, jerked wings and a shrimp skewer... everything was ?. The jerk sauce was so good. Order was ready when they said it would be?Will be back to try the famous oxtails soon.
Very spicy jerk wings and chicken. Great fried chicken too! Pleasant, helpful staff and clean, comfortable seating.
