Have only been to Wilder's twice, and the both times was over the too delicious. Wait staff is always attentive. Drinks are always full, food is always great. It is pricey but you definitely geat what you pay for.

We have visited Wilder's several times over the past four years while visiting from Michigan to see my son and daughter-in-law. It never fails to delight! Last week we had the pleasure of introducing Wilder's to other MI family members who were also visiting Joplin. All were impressed with impeccable service (including patience and kindness with children), a warm and inviting milieu and, of course, delectable food and drinks. Steaks are the highlights (tasty, tender, cooked to perfection), but the Chilean sea bass and shrimp/scampi selections were also big hits. The cauliflower au gratin is a great side dish - a cheesy, generous portion. The dinner was a perfect coda for my son's birthday celebration! Wilder's is a great choice, whether for a cozy evening for two or a special celebration with a group of family and friends.I would like to note the special attention given by Marsha, who went above and beyond to return a lost item of jewelry. This was not of extreme monetary value, but she recognized that it likely had sentimental value to someone and made the extra effort that eventually reunited it with its very happy owner. This speaks volumes about the meticulous care that Wilder's staff and management place in their work. Thank you!

Excellent food, service, and drinks - worth every penny. Nice surprise on our way back to Chicago.

The last time we were at Wilder’s we were moving our daughter in to the area for medical school. Now four years later we have returned for graduation to a post pandemic experience….and are happy to report Wilder’s has fared well! We were a party of seven and reserved a table in this busy restaurant. Dress is casual or upscale casual - your choice. The atmosphere is historic and we were very happy with the appetizers and wine….then delirious over the entrees which were sensational. Do not miss the creamed corn….it’s the best we all had ever enjoyed….and the cauliflower gratin, Brussels sprouts, creamed spinach and truffle Mac and cheese were the perfect compliments to the filets we each ordered (except grandpa who had salmon and enjoyed it). You need to save room for dessert — the chocolate cake is fabulous and the bread pudding absolutely sublime. Paired with a French press pot of coffee it made for a great end to the meal. The only downside to our visit is that with our daughter relocating for residency we are not likely to return….but if ever in the area most certainly will. Highly highly highly recommend!

Just went to Wilders for a perfect evening celebrating my dear friend’s 40th birthday! He had lived in Joplin MO for 17 years and never been to Wilders! He very much enjoyed a great meal:his perfectly cooked ribeye steak with mushrooms and onions, his delicious scallops, a Wilders’ Gouda twice baked potato and a side salad. Our appetizer of crab dip was just wonderful. Their side of cream corn that came with my chicken is “to die for”!We were very impressed with the service we received and with everything we ordered, and he agrees with me now that Wilders serves the best food in Joplin, as I have told him for years!!!

Really looked forward to this place and will admit it’s not completely their fault but the experience wasn’t what you want. Food, drinks, desert, top shelf. Unfortunately we were celebrating an accomplishment for our son but seated in the room off the bar. The front patrons were so extremely load we literally couldn’t talk amongst ourselves. This was hard on my 75 yo parents as well. That group with their loud voices, cackling women, and carrying on were more fit for an Applebees. I know the staff wasn’t sure how to handle it as it was obvious to them as well but also would become a large ticket for the night. Just really disappointed a manager or any upper management would have addressed it. Really wanted to make this a great review but eating in silence because you can’t hear your group leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Had a great dinner with my wife.Definitely recommend coming with the intent on spending that time with a special loved one.The Service was very professional and courteous. The food Quality has its highs and lows. The high: The main courses (me having a steak, my wife having the salmon)Both were exceptional and perfect. Most of the sides we had were also very good. The low:The portions of some of the foods could have been better. The side salad was very small. But the creamed corn was pretty generous!(not complaining) The crab dip could have been less (or more pita chips!)The price: This is obviously a high dollar dinner. However. The quality and the amount of food and service meet expectations.Me and my wife are non-alcoholic drinkers so I can't say anything about most the drinks they offer.Overall definitely would recommend visiting.

Always come back here whenever close to the area. Food and service is always impeccable. Have never been disappointed. Had the bone in rib-eye this evening cooked blue with sautéed mushrooms and a wedge salad. Nice wine listings and chose a Stags’s Leap cab. Perfect evening with food, wine, atmosphere and service. This is a place I will always make the extra effort to come to during my travels.

Make reservations. It’s just as good as all the reviews say it is. A classic staple steakhouse/bar in Joplin since 1996. Tasteful wine selection, and save room, because the cheesecake is to die for. Just like the sign says, parking in the rear.

Fantastic experience! Great food, but the friendly waitress and bartender made the dining experience the best. Thanks I'll be back when I'm in the area.
