Ordered the cashew chicken lunch and egg drop soup. Rice was undercooked, chicken was like jerky, sauce was thick as pudding, soup tasted like it was just chicken broth, crunchies for the soup we're stale, the Rangoon was as sweet as a dessert. The egg roll was nice at least. Don't think I'll be ordering ever again.
Food quality is hit and miss. You got 50/50 chance of good food. Delivery takes forever and they almost always forget items, that then takes an extra 45 minutes + on top of the already 45 minutes to deliver it. Management won’t refund, even with returned food.
Been going to Orient Express since it opened on Maiden Lane as well and this isn't even close to that .Chicken hard as rocks and staff so rude .If you want good service and edible food go to Webb City Orient Express. They never disappoint unfortunately I was in Joplin and THOUGHT it would be the same ,hardly.
Best Chinese food in Joplin hands down, I've been eating here since they opened! Great food & big portions & good prices!
We've been getting take out from here for years, always liked it. This is the second or third time it sucked, and I'm done! Chicken so dry and hard you can barely eat it. It's Monday and they aren't open on Sunday so I guess this is Saturdays leftover food. If I wanted Leftovers I would have raided the fridge at home! and it would have been better. I do not recommend this place.
Recently the food quality is hit or miss. Used to always be good, now it is a 1 in 5 chance. Out of our last 5 visits only one has been up to the old standard. Time to find a new place or Chinese take-out
Best Chinese food place in town. Hands down. I have been going to this place since they started out, back when they were located on 7th street and maiden lane behind a discount smoke and liquor in an old laundry mat. They have the BEST cashew chicken ever and I drive 2 hours just to get it. I recommend this place to EVERYONE visiting joplin. And to everyone in general. Chinese food? Yeah oriental Express. Go. Eat it. Love it. Best. Place. Ever. Thank you for being an amazing restaurant.
Physical contamination. Just bit into 2 small black rocks in my order of General. Immediately called restaurant. Had to repeatedly ask to speak to owner myself after the worker kept relaying information between the two of us. No solution other than me bringing the food back to them was offered. NO APOLOGY. They refused to send a delivery driver. They would not take my information over the phone when I told them I needed to make a dental appointment to check to see if a tooth had been chipped or cracked. Once back at the restaurant the owner says he found more rocks in the dried red pepper flakes. HE DIDN'T SEEM SURPRISED. Appears they are willing to use unsafe food suppliers in order to cut costs. The red pepper flakes are only there because they cut corners and eliminated the full chilis from their original recipe!
I’ve ordered food from Orient Express many times and have generally been satisfied with it. This evening, however, was a different experience. I ordered kung pao chicken. I picked it up. After opening the food container at home it was obviously a much smaller portion than usual. Perhaps 70% full. Their recent price increase hasn’t bothered me as I realize costs are going up, but I expect consistency. I called to let them know and the person who answered said I could bring the food back and maybe they would give me more. They basically said I was lying as they kept repeating that they always give the same amount. I asked to speak with a manager but was refused. I asked for a partial credit for next time and was also refused being told that I already had a meal and that giving me a credit would be like giving me a free meal. Terrible customer service. I hope the owners read this review. I can’t say I won’t ever return but it likely won’t be for a while.
