Great place with great service and amazing homemade rootbeer!

Great little drive in spot to grab a bite to eat. Pull up & park, within minutes Someone will come up to your car window to take your order. Always very friendly and considerate. Absolutely love the Wiz burger, prices are definitely affordable. Whenever I’m hungry and I happen to be in Independence this is my go to spot. Place has been here forever. Love their crumbly burgers, & There rootbeer is definitely a treat. The atmosphere is a different experience, nothing like going to a regular drive-through like McDonald’s.

Pro: the prices are cheap, service was goodCon: the prices reflect quality and taste.“You get what you pay for” Rings more true at Mugs Up than anywhere else.If you are wanting something cheap made with cheap ingredients then this is your place! Also if your looking for a traditional burger you should know these are loose meat burgers. Therefore its just ground beef on the bun. (Not a deterrent for me if the food tasted better)

Blackbox and Orangecow floats

my favorite place for down home grub for cheap

It's always cool to visit here! I love the zip burger, fries , the nuggets & ROOT BEER! Very reasonably priced, & friendly staff! Yesterday, I decided to snap some pics, with my actual camera! ......Get the nuggets! ??

For a place named for their in-house root beer, I'm not a fan of it. However, I am a fan of the delicious chicken nuggets and several other menu items. On this trip I ordered 18 nuggets (don't worry I ate 6 and saved 12) with barbecue sauce (Gates original sauce is what they give you for dipping). The nuggets are the best around as they are gigantic and tasty! I also ordered a whiz burger (crumbly burger with cheese). Prices are affordable and the car hops are always friendly. With a large menu there is no reason not to try this blast from the past.

The onion rings were the best!!! The burgers were small but very inexpensive. They make their own root beer but since I had a float (Black Cow) I couldn't really tell any difference. I think I am too young to appreciate loose meat burgers from a drive in. You have to eat in your car, there is no drive thru like Sonic.

Many, many years ago" late 70s" when I first had Mugs Up. Lived in kC, Independence, Lees summit. Mugs up was a couple times a week thing. Moved away in 91, back to Ga. Everytime I go to KC, to see family and friends I also have to visit mugs Up, my favorite as well as the Pizza Fun House.

I have enjoyed Mugs Up for 53 years first in Merriam, KS... My mother worked there and later in life I found the restaurant in Independence, MO. And even when I moved to Indiana when ever I made it a point to stop by and enjoy a meal. Now that I am back I get a chance to go there and pick up a teste of the past, they have the best burgers and fries and the root beer is simply the best around.Thank you Mugs Up for being here...
