The young lady behind the counter belted out "Hi How may I help you" right as i entered the serving line. This greeting is a Gate's tradition and they have been greeting customers like this for as long as I can remember. The charm of their greeting is what makes this place unique. I ordered a lean cut of beef brisket on bread and a side of hot fries. I sat down at a booth in the dining room and enjoyed dinner. Gate's sandwiches are big. I ended up taking half of it home. A very attentive lady stopped by my table and placed my food in a take-box. She even wrapped plastic around the box to prevent leakage. I just wish she had not been so fast because I was not done eating my fries.

Went in, asked to see slab, said it seemed burnt, the lady said it is not burnt it is barbeque.....said nope, got box home it was definitely burnt...the end was not even edible. The meat was tough.... disappointed!! Didn't think the beans were as good....all around disappointed.... second time this is happened....there will not be a third because I will go elsewhere.

The food here was absolutely amazing and you got a lot for the price. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got the mix box with ham, ribs, beef, French fries, toast and pickles and a pork and a half. Three of us still had leftovers. It was so great, we went back the next day to take some more home.

How can I have missed this place after being in this area so many times. They holler at you asking for your order as soon as you walk in and no matter how many are in front of you, you get your order when you get to the front of the line. This location is a newer building, though built on the location of the original store, I heard. Their Nooner sandwich is your choice of meat topped with burn ends, oh my! The rub they use on it has something, maybe cayenne, that provides just a bit of a burn, but not too bad. Fries were plentiful! Be sure you pick up a fork before you sit down, you will need it to scoop up what falls from your sandwich! Service was prompt and polite.

Waited in line 30.minutes. They were out of original sauce. Wouldn't sell burnt ends without the order being a sandwich. I love the product but service was awful. Take out is in same line as restaurant ordering.

A bit on the slow side!! The meat that I did eat had absolutely fantastic flavor!!! To bad the meat was mostly gristle and fat!!! But great flavor!!! The burnt part was great too!!!

No ketchup, no forks, really over priced, 65.00. I was with family , told them it's one of the best in kc. Very disappointed, 40 hwy, menu confusing as for, combos, rush you thru the line, may I help you, no more ,3rd time disappointed

Growing in KC for 18 years, this was the definition of KC BBQ for me and my family. Today, I was happy to bring some folks from Texas to experience it. It still holds up and brings so many fond memories. Best sauce in town hands down.

The sauce was good :(But the meat was cold...like cold cuts. I'm not sure if it was hot enough to be food safe. And the cashier was rude. I'm not talking about the traditional "Hi may I help you" bit. She had a bad attitude. She had already called out to the guy behind us before we finished ordering. One of the people in our party asked for sweet and spicy sauces and she said, 'well someone said all sauces, so I'm going to take my time'. We spent $78 and could have chosen elsewhere to spend our food dollars. However, the lady picking up the tables was super sweet! Give her a raise!

Absolutely freaking awesome. Very fast service, VERY clean restaurant, employees are SUPER nice, The food was 5 star..The best Bbq i have ate in years and i was born and raised in kc so i have tried it all.
