Scrumptious as ever, still my favorite Mexican restaurant, and I live on the Mexican border. Lost one star for charging for chips and other things. My gosh, how bout one complimentary bowl of chip, and charge for more? I understand charging more for everything else. Also, please serve coffee, decaf too, especially in evening.Vegetarian options: Plenty of options, they'll make sure you get what you want, just ask.Kid-friendliness: Plenty of Mexican options and boring American food for kids to keep them happy. I enjoyed coming here as a kid for the BEST sopapilla to celebrate?family birthdays. Parking: Plenty of parkingWheelchair accessibility: Sufficient parking and space inside for wheelchairs, scooters etc. Our older family members with mobility issues had no problem getting in, eating comfortably and leaving.Dietary restrictions: They put together a deconstructed beef enchilada without the corn shells I can't tolerate. Just what I asked for!
The food is really good and the service is too. It’s just not blow your mind fantastic, and this might sound silly but I hate their salsa (the house made chips are amazing though!) so I can’t do 5 stars
Enchilada plate i give 5 stars best I've ever had. Chips and salsa to hot for me. Needs to be milder I'm old. New restaurant half size old one it's to bright I prefer old dark restaurant. New hours ?don't know why inside at bar are open only patio or take out take out mexican is like eating tv dinner.
The service was excellent. I enjoyed my chimichunga. The food was hot and seemed fresh. My son did not like the kids chicken quesadilla not enough cheese. The waitress offered more cheese. It's loud in there, it was packed.
Our family has been coming here for over 50 years. Authentic and family owned, it is our favorite restaurant when we want good Mexican food. Try the Pollo Adobado, best thing on the menu!
This Friday was the first time we had dined at Ruiz since they closed to remodel and we love the new look! The food was even better than we remembered it and the service was perfect. I got the Tequila Garlic Fish special (a must try!) and my husband got the steak and chicken fajitas. The quality of food and portions you get are more than worth the price. Margaritas are the best I’ve had in St Louis—try the Cadillac!

I’m new to the Florissant area, but have had a lot of STL Mexican food in my lifetime. This place labeling themselves as the oldest Mexican restaurant in STL immediately got me excited. First off, they charge for chips and salsa, per bowl which I have never seen. Major head scratcher. Chips did not seem made in house, rather poured out of a bag, warmed in a microwave. The prices for the drinks were average, and they tasted great. Although a very small margarita menu, plus no frozen options which is another thing I have never seen. They would be perfect on the patio on a summer night. Anyways, food was very over priced and menu was limited for a Mexican restaurant. The portions were small, 3 small street tacos and a small size of rice and beans for $17 is a little steep, considering competition is not that high priced. The food wasn’t bland necessarily, but it did not have that authentic STL Mexican flavor I’ve had a 1,000 times. It seems as if they just did a bunch of changes to the menu and restaurant itself. The waitress was struggling to take our order, almost like she hadn’t memorized the menu. At times she also got very up close and personal while taking orders. She was very nice though. All in all, I heard good things from the community, not sure what the hype was about. I’ll go back in a year or so to see if things improve.
We dined in at Ruiz last weekend and had the best time and experience. The new remodel looks fresh and beautiful and the staff is awesome. The food was DELICIOUS! Definitely the best rice and beans in any Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. The entrees were superb too. So much flavor. We can’t wait for our next visit!
Wonderful staff and love the updated dinning area. Food was delicious as always
