Barbecue Barbeque

I ordered the burnt ends platter with beans and potato salad. I regret even seeing the sign for this place. My wife ordered tater skins, she didn't eat all of them. Don't come here for good barbeque. You'll be disappointed.

Good BBQ My family of 5 shared the Feast. It says it feeds 3-4 but it was plenty for all of us and my husband is a big eater. We ordered waters and one extra side and our total was around $75. They have sandwich platters with fries for $11. The Feast is a sampler of 1/2 pound each of their meats and 2 sides. We thought the pulled pork tho was the best of the platter.

The flavors are great, really enjoyed the food and sauces. It is a little pricey, but all bbq places are. The only thing I wish they did differently was to cut up the pulled pork for the nachos, it would make it so much easier to eat than just a big chunk. Didn't really care for the Mac n cheese so I would pass on that next time.

We visited Big D's BBQ on Friday about 2:30 pm and it seemed to be a good time to avoid the rush times. From previous visits to Branson we had seen Big D's and their various coupons (some for $5 off two platters, some for 10% off meal, etc.). We wanted the platters so took advantage of the $5 off coupon and it was properly discounted from the total, though it actually shows up as the $5 divided by percentage off all others items on the receipt. That was only odd as the coupon says it is for $5 off the second platter, but the discount was applied by percentage off of each of the two platters, as well as the soft drinks. The total totaled $5 but might take a moment to realize you got the discount. My wife ordered the half chicken platter with green beans and fries as her sides. Her chicken was very good, very moist and she liked it very much. The green beans had a good smoke flavor and she liked her fries. I ordered the full rack rib platter with green beans and baked beans as my sides, both very good. For the ribs, they were okay for that type of ribs. albeit dry. They did not have a smoke ring (not that it absolutely means anything since they can be faked) so not sure if their definition of "low and slow" is a modified slow meaning a bit higher temperature of like 350F and 3-6 hours versus the more pure 250F and 12-14 hours which allows more smoke penetration and tender ribs. In any case, the ribs were not tender nor were they pull off the bone (technically overcooked but very good anyway), nor were they a slight tug from the bone (technically cooked perfectly). The ribs were dry so it was good that they have 3 good sauces to try and use. Normally don't use sauce on ribs as a good rib needs no sauce. These ribs definitely need sauce. So, not sure if it was the time or this order of ribs, but they would not be my choice again. We have had ribs in Branson at Gettin' Basted two times already and they were consistent and perfect both times, and the cost was comparable. We also have had the ribs at Paula Deen's before and they were good and we went there again the day after Big D's and got the ribs and they were again very good. So, for us, our choices for ribs in Branson would be Gettin' Basted or Paula Deen's. A bonus at Paula Deen's is that is is all you can eat. Sadly, for Big D's, the platter I got was all I could eat as it was tough to eat, needed to floss afterward. The restaurant was clean and the restrooms were single person and clean. They only provide a fork with your meal so you have to go up and get a knife if you need one, or a spoon (needed for the baked beans in my case). There was no table service so be aware of that when you order as they push you to leave a tip when you order - yes, a tablet kind of pushed to you and verbiage such that you can leave the tip here. Kind of off-putting but figured that meant there was some kind of table service as there was also a tip jar at the register. In any case, be aware of that as we assumed it must have some type of table service so left a 20% tip which is our standard but not sure what we tipped for but at least figured half of our tip we got back as our coupon ($10 tip but at least got $5 discount) for our bill of $48 plus tax. Soft drinks are self service and they have a nice variety and the machine was clean. The lady at the order location was nice. For some people Big D's may be a good choice and maybe other days the food is better. For us, with several other BBQ options close by that we know are very good and enjoyable, we would not recommend Big D's BBQ unless maybe you are in a hurry as the other locations are always more busy, we may have discovered why. Sadly, it is the closest BBQ place to the hotel we normally stay at but it is worth the drive for us to go to one of the others.

This has been my favorite barbecue joint ever. Baby back ribs were seasoned 2 perfection. Barbecue sauce was great, with several flavors to choose from and were outstanding. The burnt ends for once were better than brisket which shocked me. They claim to do texas-style brisket and it was very good. But the flovor and tenderness of the burnt ends was impressive. The pit means had huge chunks of bacon and pulled pork and was delicious. Wife got a huge platter of pulled pork nachos and she loved them. Kid got mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. Plenty of free parking all around restaurant. Huge dinner tables with large bench style seating with paper towels and barbecue sauce ready. This was my kind of place.

I came to Big D's because I love trying BBQ wherever I go. It's my favorite style/type of food. I ordered the Carolina sandwich. (pulled pork with slaw on top) I would give it a 5.5 out of 10. It wasn't bad but it seemed average to me. I like the pit beans, though. I always like beans that have some of the scraps of meat in it. I would give them a 7 out of 10. They have 3 different sauces: sweet, bold, and mustard/Carolina. The Sweet was a 5, Carolina 4, the bold 6. I will say their Dr. Pepper mixture is fire! (10 out of 10) Their servers and cashiers were excellent and deserve high marks. (9 out of 10) I truly think I need to try their other food because it all looked 10 out of 10. The only real issue I had and the reason for my 3 rating was the owners were out front speaking with the employees about business and things customers should not be around for. I honestly hope I was misunderstanding the situation, but it sounded rather harsh and made the employees seem uncomfortable. I understand bosses speaking with their employees, but it shouldn't be out where customers can see and hear it. I will be back to try other foods and hopefully this time there won't be any private business being handled out front.

We read the reviews and decided to visit before our show tonight. We are so glad we did. We both ordered the pulled port platter. My husband had the coleslaw and baked beans with his. I ordered the fried okra and smoked green beans. The meat had no waste. The sides were outstanding and the sauces were awesome. We totally loved our meal. And the staff was exceptional too!!!!!!!

visited for the first time today. had an excellent meal. staff was as friendly as could be. wife said the restroom was spotless. brisket was fantastic. burgers were great. will definitely be be back when visiting branson again

Excellent food and service. We loved the choice of meats and BBQ sauces. Staff were super friendly and accommodating! We will be back when in Branson again.

5 star bbq place here in Branson and the only place! As a local I have eaten at them all and can say that! Doug had the burnt ends and ribs and as usual they are so tender and flavorful! I had the smoked sausage, pitbeans and potato salad. The potato salad is so creamy! The beans have a hint of smoke in them and I love that! The sausage was diffrent this time in the best way, it was bigger AND had more spices! They also serve 3 diffrent types of homemade bbq sauce. If your visiting you will not be disappointed. Oh and they sell beer now!PS Doug has been smoking our own meats at home for SEVERAL years and knows his stuff. This is the best burnt ends he has ever had!
