What a delightful lunch experience. We were travelling through Vicksburg and decided that this was the place to visit. Most likely about two miles off the highway and close to downtown, this was a spectacular find. Classic Southern Veranda, superb food, very professional and prompt service and reasonable pricing all combined to insure a very pleasant lunch. Add in the bakery ( Coconut Cake ) and this will leave you full and with pleasant memories. 10 minutes at most off of the highway, Take the detour, it will be the highlight of your day.
True souther cooking. The biscuits are mouth watering. The entrance is full of amazing looking deserts. Service was fast and friendly.
We had the pleasure of dining at Walnut Hills last night. The setting (an old historic house) and the history of the restaurant was so interesting. The service was friendly and efficient. We had the gumbo and a house salad as well as the famous fried chicken (there's a reason it's famous! Yum) and sides. Everything was delicious! The Old fashion cocktail was very unique and outstanding. Took home a slice of Italian Cream cake and we savored every bite.
I heard great things about the fried chicken, but it was absolutely the worst I've had. It was fried to a crisp and very pricey. The vegetables were very good, so maybe it was just a bad night. It is in an old house but we were in a dark back room; however the service was great.
My family and I stopped by while traveling from Texas to Alabama. The staff was very friendly. Food was delicious. It's basically southern comfort food. 78.00 for two adults and two children, however, food was good and we'd definitely stop by here again.
Best Fried Chicken Lunch. Just like my Grandma made us. Friendly and attentive staff. Will be eating here again during our visit to Vicksburg.
Loved the atmosphere, the food choices and the staff was excellent. Desserts are fabulous, had the strawberry cake!!! Recommend highly!!
Wonderful place to eat. Food is good, service, depends on the wait staff you get. Mostly good though. I ordered fried chicken with asparagus and baked sweet potato. It was good. Next time I am getting shrimp and grits. That looked even better.
We enjoyed the lunch special - $12 - of fried chicken (white meat), two sides, cornbread, biscuits, dessert and tea. Definitely a bargain! the restaurant is in an old house so has multiple dining rooms. The food was hot and delicious, served very quickly with efficient service by our server. We were glad we stopped there.
The best fried chicken I ever had hands down. we had yhe pimento cheese ans sausage appetizer - to die for. Tomales, chicken fried steak and hamburger steak. awesome service, great desert selection (we had sure enough home made german chocolate- wonderful). Highly recommend
