Picked up lunch for my daughter and myself. On the way out the rug at the door was folded back tried to step over and tripped . Slammed into door spraining my wrist and breaking the cup of cheese dip. I called for someone to help but manager was talking . Finally got his attention. He grabbed the bag with dripping cheese sauce and went out . When he finally reappeared he was ignoring me completely. I ask for another dip and was charged again. Never ask if I was ok or offer help. The next day my daughter called and said how inconsiderate that was and ask for money back. We were refunded a small part of the money and reprimanded for not calling back same day. Never again.
Even though El Veracruz in Tupelo is a little off the beaten path, it is worth the extra few miles, if for only the bean dip and fresh guacamole. The food is excellent and service can't be beat!
This restaurant is a hidden gem in east Tupelo. I was blown away on how good the food was. The chori-pollo entree that I had was by far one of the best and extremely tasty. The drinks were bomb as well! The entire staff was very attentive and super courteous. Everything from start to finish was phenomenal! I will most definitely be back, soon at that! I urge and encourage everyone to go try this place out by all means.

We have gone here for several years for inside dining and carryout, but we have recently had two bad experiences in the last three weeks and will not be going back after tonight. The same gentleman seated us both times in the far section of the restaurant, then he seemed to give much attention to certain customers while ignoring others. Yes, we were ignored the last time and tonight. We at least got our dinner a few weeks ago, just ignored and had to stop him for requests; but, tonight the queso never arrived, nor did our meal. Tonight, our nice young waiter took our order promptly, then disappeared. He did make several sweeps by the table quickly, not stopping but looking at us. The man who seated us made at least 20 trips tonight to look at the backs of our heads and look at the table then hurried away. You'd think that meant they were working on our delayed meal. We were sitting at the very last booth by the outside exit, but so were the folks next to us. If we hadn't had this older man for our server the last time and been ignored, tonight seriously could have been tonight's young waiter error, etc. But this older man kept checking, it was bizarre, odd, like "are they not mad enough to leave yet?" This man is in his 40's or so, and he's obviously attentive to some customers we observed, so, we're trying to not take it personally. We are friendly people, happy, kind people. But, now twice with the same man? We waited an hour, and we left, paid for my husband's beer, I had water, never got our queso. I'd like to go back by next week to ask him what he doesn't like about us, just so we'll know. I'd like him to say it to my face and not waste an hour or two unpleasant evenings. If you know me, I believe in standing up, speaking your truth. We can get a cold beer and a Have a nice day at The Chevron. That's much better treatment than we've had here our last two visits. I will say, I do feel it's most likely only this one gentleman who is picking and choosing who he will give good service to. We have never, ever had anything but wonderful service, food, and atmosphere here until this man began working in that back section. Please, please, sit near the front door. We did enjoy talking with people we knew come, eat and go. But, come on. We tried really hard to wait, but the food literally never come, nor did any explanation or it's coming in 5 more minutes. Just really bizarre stares. We got it, we cleared out. Seat your friends there -

I ordered a Mexican burrito with everything and no rice. This is what I got. They added some cheese sauce to it. I asked them if that’s how they make their burritos in Mexico and they said yes. It was a pick up order.
Varied and delicious menu options, especially if you like shrimp. Fast service & friendly staff.
