The food was awesome! I had chicken fired chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, my bf had fried red fish, coleslaw, and onion rings. So good! For dessert we had the banana pudding, it was to die for!
Had the WORSE experience today at Trace Grill. Management threw the food AND credit card back into my vehicle and claim they can't give a refund. Taking things a bit further, legally wise. Sometimes you just don't know who someone knows until something of this extreme happens. I've been a LOYAL customer for this establishment about six years now, but THIS has definitely taken the cake. I've NEVER in my life been treated this way.
Outstanding. They have a different way of doing things so if it's your first time be aware you make your order before you seat off a billboard over the registers. They walk around hollering your name when your food is ready and you raise your hand to get your plates. The fried green tomatoes were killer.
I ordered the rosemary garlic chicken with 3 sides. My sides were delicious. I had fried okra, cabbage and black eyed peas. All of the veggies were great. The protein, however, was not good at all. The flat piece of chicken breast was dry and flavorless. I decided not to continue eating the chicken breast. Perhaps try using boneless skinless chicken thighs instead. The portion size of cornbread I received was also not satisfactory. It was quite a small portion. All in all I would recommend just getting a vegetable plate.
I love Trace Grill. I’ve been eating there for over a decade. Great blue plates, burgers, and vegetable options. It’s hard to find a bad things on the menu. Very helpful staff that want you to have a great experience.
People seem to love it because it's always packed but to me, it's just "ok". Nice place, people are nice etc just wasn't wowed with the food part. Got the catfish which was real thin but yet still pretty fishy.
I really like the Trace grill. Everything is really good there except tonight I had the red beans and rice for the first time and they were not good. It was more like refied beans and rice. Too thick and pastie. Ill stick to what I know next time.
Update. Went to Trace today and had a weird experience. Our food came and I was waiting for my waiter to place it on the table and he just stood there holding it. I then realized that he was waiting for me to take the plate. It was weird to me because the waiters always place the food on the table but I took it and sat it down. I noticed he he forgot the tarter. You don’t have a certain waiter at the restaurant, so if you need something you’d have to stop any waiter you see. I turned around and the same guy was walking towards my table so I kind of raised my hand to get his attention and said excuse me. He glanced at me and then turn to the left. I said excuse me again and then he started cleaning off an empty table. The people around started staring because it was weird. You can tell that he purposely ignored me. The waiter’s back was turned, but everybody in the area was looking at me and then him. After wiping the table off, he turned around and look at me with raised eyebrows as though he knew I was trying to get his attention. He went and got the tart but everybody was still staring so it felt really weird and I couldn’t eat so I left. I don’t wanna say what I thought it was but…
Trace grill has long been one of my favorite lunch spots in town. The fried catfish and curly fries are top notch and never disappoint.
Catfish blue plate: 2 tiny strips of filet, ridiculous! Left there hungry.Better to just raise the price.Had to blackball them.
