Our waitress was lovely and the environment was very nice. We ordered the mozzarella sticks as our appetizer and they were unlike any mozzarella stick I've had before. They lacked a little flavor but the cheese was so weirdly soft, I liked it and thought it was nice cause I've never had a cheese stick that stayed soft through the whole time eating it. My partner ordered the Ceasar salad and I ordered the lasagna. My partner said her salad was decent and while I loved the flavor of the lasagna, I thought it was very mushy. The texture threw off the experience cause the flavors were great. Overall not a bad experience.

We came in on a Monday for lunch. Our waitress Sidney was attentive and sweet. The atmosphere and music was pleasant. We were actually able to have a conversation without having to yell. Unlike some other places here in Oxford.Pasta was delish but their fresh bake bread and crawfish rolls are the bomb. Definitely will be back for more!

Have been a fan of Venice Kitchen, Summit, and Secret Grilled Cheese for the past three years of graduate school, but had some of the worst service of my life last night. I understand that everyone has "bad days" but the lack of professionalism I, and others, have experienced from this server is inexcusable. After ordering drinks, I left my table for roughly two minutes to wash my hands before eating. While I was gone, my server took my entire table's order- other than mine. This would be a non-issue had the server came back and taken my order in a timely fashion but this did not happen. The next time I saw the server was when everyone's food was brought out, except mine. My order was finally taken at this point but the food never came out. After roughly thirty minutes of being told "your food will be out in five minutes" and finally being told "I don't know when your food is going to be out" I asked to cancel the order and was met with some of the most unprofessional and rudest behavior I've ever experienced as a customer. The server was not only bad at their job but also rude and defensive about being bad at their job.Unfortunately, I am not the only person and unlikely the last person to experience such rude service given that this server has a history of being bad at their job- In some cases this server has had the police called over a simple dish exchange. It is probably best that this server consider a different line of work given their lack of competency and rudeness.

Good food and service. Good pricing for a place off the square. Chicken parm was a huge breast and not all pasta. Really enjoyed everything including cheese plate assortment. Good choice of many different things like sausage and cranberry and walnuts.

My family and I will no longer be eating here. Called the night before Easter Sunday to make sure they would be able to sit a party of 10 even with no reservation. They said yes. Came an hour before the rest of the family showed up to to check in and was told it was going to be 45-1hr wait. We waited an hour and they refused service to us without. They didn’t even have the audacity to let us know that they are refusing service to us….we had to wait the hour and and then asked how long it was going to be AND then we were told they couldn’t serve us. The management was extremely rude and did not care. Oh and they still let 5 other people go in after us after they just told us they couldn’t serve us. Save your money and don’t go here!!!!

Went recently for a date night and it was nice. They were obviously understaffed but the waitress was awesome and quite attentive. Pizza and mozzarella sticks were delicious. The tiramisu is delicious! Also quite a nice atmosphere.

With no preconceived notions, we stumbled upon Venice Kitchen for lunch today. The atmosphere is friendly and well in keeping with what you’d expect from a square adjacent Oxford restaurant. The decor is pretty unassuming, which immediately indicates that the food is the focus. The French 75 is one of their menu-listed cocktails, and it does not disappoint. Light on the garnish and easy on the syrup, this one falls into the recommended category. The warm fresh bread with butter was an unrequested delight. The mozzarella sticks are not the usual thawed and fried version you expect. They’re more the size of pecan logs. The cheese more than compensates for a bland marinara. Salad for me, chicken parm for my companion. We left stuffed. Their pizza menu lists lots of great possibilities. We will be back.

Great place all around only Italian on square worth it. Got to have the crawfish rolls. Manager Sam is so friendly and made sure we were all good. Great bartenders.

Police called after order sent backWhen the waitress, Kaydn, took the order, I originally ordered the Rasta Pasta. The menu described it as having Caribbean Jerk Cream Sauce, which sounded flavorful. When the food arrived and I started to eat, I wasn’t a fan of the pasta, because it didn’t have the distinctive fire of jerk seasoning, it tasted boring but peppery. I took 2 bites and didn’t like the food so I immediately waved someone down. Once the Kaydn got to the table I asked if it was possible for me to switch out the dish because it wasn’t my taste and she said she would have to ask someone about their policy on doing so and left. When she came back she asked what else I would like and took the plate with the Rasta Pasta. I asked that the Rasta Pasta to be exchanged for Chicken Parmesan. When the check came, I informed the Kaydn that I was charged for both meals and she said it was because I ordered both. I said, if the Chicken Parmesan was a replacement dish and I only took two bites of the Rasta Pasta, why was I charged for both? She went back to speak to her manager Sidney Gallatin and returned to advise me that because I ate it and there was nothing wrong with the dish that I still had to be charged. I explain, that I wouldn’t be paying for a dish I didn’t eat and that I gave back practically untouched. The waitress, Kaydn, got the manager Sidney, who claimed that I had eaten some of the dish and there was nothing wrong with it. I refused to pay since I was never told about being charged for both meals and I didn’t even get to keep the Rasta Pasta as they had already trashed it. Sidney Gallatin said that it was their policy. I asked, why that was never made clear, as the waitress only asked me what I wanted after I explained that I was not happy with the pasta. After I said I would pay for everything except the pasta, the manager said she would call the cops to handle this issue, so we waited. Once an officer arrived he talked to Sidney the manager and then me. He agreed that he’s never heard of a policy that charged someone from their original meal and their replacement but in order to avoid them filing and taking me to court it would just be easiest to pay them. Sidney would not even speak to me and had another manager Cross stay in the dining area when the officer came even though I requested her. A bill that was originally supposed to be less than $20 came out to $35. I’m saddened at how this was handled and want others to know their “policy” so they can avoid suffering the anxiety and embarrassment that I have.

The service is very slow despite this place being near empty. On top of that, I came here with my family yesterday. One of the people in my party ordered the rasta pasta, and hated it so they asked our waitress if she could replace it with something else. The waitress said they had to go ask about their policy on substituting entrees, and then came back a few minutes later saying that they could do it and she threw away the original entree. However, when the bill came, they still charged for both entrees despite what the waitress said about being able to replace it. We protested this because there is no reason that this place should be charging for an entree that was thrown out by the waitress. I have worked in several restaurants and have been to several restaurants that will replace an entree if the customer is dissatisfied without charge. Clearly the waitress never actually asked about their policy on substituting entrees since they never warned us about charging for the original entree. That is just poor customer service, or maybe it was her way trying to get a bigger tip. Shameful. Hopefully in the future, the waitress will actually do her job and ask about their company policies and warn customers. But really and truly, that should be a policy that she should already know without having to ask. I will not be returning because of this experience.
