Atmosphere was fantastic. Not sure why the flair for the bar. If you’ve been to great cocktail bars in big cities this will surely be a let down. First red flag was that my old fashioned tasted like whiskey on the rocks with a splash of water. Second and biggest red flag was seeing the bartender shake a Manhattan which is a drink that should always be stirred no matter what if ands or buts. Very disappointed.

My food was delicious. I ordered a salad (pic) yummy—and a pork appetizer. My husband ordered the whole fresh fish. It had very little meat, and each fork full was loaded with bones. He couldn’t eat his dish. He was very disappointed. The restaurant was very nice but extremely LOUD. So loud that my ears were actually hurting when we left.

There are not a lot of places to eat in Oxford and but the student places are expensive. City Grocery is highly rated. Service is good. The food is best described as 'quirky' like the chef is being too creative for his own good. Server said they are trying out new menu items in prep for the season which starts when school does. Fine, but they should offer smaller portions and lower prices for their expermental items.

Love Happy Hour here, sitting on the balcony upstairs and people watching when weather permits. Both food and service have always been excellent downstairs in the dining room. I usually end up ordering one of the specials as the regular menu tends to be a bit eclectic.

If you are in Oxford visiting, then this is THE place to go! It might be a little slow to get in on busy nights such as home football games, but other than that you could expect a normal 20-30 minute wait time for some of the best food in Oxford. As good as the food is, the staff should be equally praised as they are some of the most professional and high quality servers you will come across.

Incredible, interesting food choices and fantastic service. Our waiter was truly the best. I had the bbq duck sandwich and it was AMAZING. Wish I lived closer so I could get it more often. Don't miss this restaurant when in Oxford!

An excellent overall dinner experience! Our waiter was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and both the ambiance and the cuisine were spectacular!

Always a great place. Too many college kids. Just kidding. Have been coming here for 20 years. Menu has become too out there. Can't order a regular salad and filet anymore.

Recently ate here on a Saturday night. Overall the atmosphere is fun and lively (can get noisy with a full house), the waitstaff was very attentive and knowledgeable and the food tasted good - it’s not incredible but it’s good. However I wouldn’t have dinner here again for following reasons:- One of the pork dumpling appetizers had a large piece of bone in it.- All of our food was served luke warm/room temperature. This made it easy to start eating immediately but halfway thru eating a course the food wasn’t warm at all. I have no idea why this was done. It was very odd for the hot chocolate dessert to be basically cool when it was served.- There were 4 in our party and we were seated in the middle row that has small tables. We fit but it was tight and almost every waiter that walked by me kicked/knocked my chair all evening. I moved as close to the table as possible. There was plenty of seating on the sides for us.Overall the experience was OK but these little things all added up to us really focusing on how much all this cost us - which shouldn’t be the case at a place with such a great reputation.I’d recommend this place for lunch maybe and then splurge and go to Ravine for dinner.

One of my favorite restaurants.
