Understand before you go here that this place is a dive, ok? It’s not fancy, but it is an Oxford tradition, having been open since 1959! And the tables and decor probably haven’t changed since then! I go here occasionally for breakfast. Nothing fancy. Coffee, eggs, bacon, pancakes, sausage & gravy. Locals will be there as well as students. The waitress might sit down at the table with you while you order. If you want fancy, go to the place down the street, but if you want good ole diner food at a good price, go to the Beacon.

We had heard about the Beacon, and since we were in Oxford for the weekend, we stopped in. We had a great breakfast in a quaint, local meeting spot. Every chair was taken although there wasn’t too long of a wait. Nothing unusual on the menu, but just good breakfast food.

Great spot for a burger and onion rings. The staff is attentive and friendly. There is a down home vibe that isn’t pretentious or pretending to be something they are not.A definite locals secret you should seek for yourself.The onion rings are fresh and massive, the bacon cheeseburgers are messy and delicious.

When visiting other towns, I try to patronize locally-owned businesses and this one dis not disappoint! Friendly staff and the food was hot & freshly cooked (not microwaved like “chain” restaurants). Pay them a visit and help keep the “little guy” in business. You won’t be disappointed!

This place is a typical diner style breakfast joint but the food here is delicious!
