This is such a cool and quirky place! Definitely the most unique restaurant we've been to on our travels acrothe US. Lots of places to sit and hangout, it's kid friendly with a giant sandbox/play area for kiddos, a short river walk, interesting buildings to walk thru, wildlife, very casual, live music, and EXCELLENT bbq and fried pickles!
1st visit...great location and ambiance outdoorsy like a real bbq. The food was delish...I only had a few sides and my mother had the baby back ribs. The baked beans were the best I've ever eaten!! Oh yeah... also purchased a bottle of the Southern Sweet BBQ sauce ?
After passing thru and seeing signs for years and after reading all the rave reviews, we finally made time to stop at The Shed for lunch. After ordering a nice variety of items so we would have a good sampling, we discovered there was NO smoke on any of the meat - brisket, sausage or chicken. Yhe pulled brisket was not pulled - couldn’t figure out what it was supposed to be but it was dry and simply awful. The wings were mealy and seem to have been parboiled or something. The baked beans tasted like they were seasoned with cumin and/or chili powder. The best things were the bartender and the potato salad! The ambiance is funky, relaxed and can easily be envisioned as a great place for day drinking. So sorry - but I sure wish we had visited sooner. The food had to have been different to get the reviews it received from the Food Network, Southern Living and other publications. Terribly disappointing.
My wife recommended this place,, but I had reservations based on her description. Their barbecue sauce won me over as I think it is the best I've ever had. I had a pulled pork sandwich, potato salad and baked beans. The baked beans seemed to have the same flavor as the sandwich. The potato salad was a little too dry for me, because I'm used to the kind made with mustard sauce and gooey. The sandwich was huge and the side items were ample portions, too. Eight dollars for a sandwich seemed high at the counter. But the sandwiches size made up for the price. The decor of the restaurant is interesting, to say the least. It looks like you're eating in a junkyard, but I think it's a clever deception. There's plenty of parking close by.
Heading home from a road trip. Stopped for gas in Ocean Springs MS, across the street is The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint. We decide to look around and really wanted stay for lunch but need to get home. Not wanting to miss out we tried the BBQ Wings, delicious. Next time will try and time our trip to make a stop at the Shed for BBQ & Blues. Very COOL JOINT!
Yeah, it's a cool spot. Yeah it's neat. No the food is not good. No the service is not good. I ordered my brisket "lean" and I should have known the order taker didn't have a clue what I meant, but I let it slide because we already had a "deer in the headlight" look when I asked if they had Brunswick Stew. The meat that made it to my plate was more fat than meat and the meat that was there was a great roast beef, but not the smoked brisket I thought I was getting. Same as the chicken, no smoke! The mac and cheese was creamy and bland. The best item was the fried okra, and I really don't like okra. I wouldn't go back. Ever.
1st time visitor will definitely be a repeat customer before I leave the area. For me, this was an experience, an delightful experience. My order: The Combo plate consisting of pulled port and quarter rack of ribs with sweet potato casserole & potato salad. Point blank, I was NOT disappointed! Ribs on this day were fall-off the bone and the pork was juicy. The sweet potato casserole & potato salad complemented the ribs and pulled pork, perfectly.I so much enjoyed my visit that I purchased 'merch' such as a bottle of Southern Sweet BBQ sauce, a baseball cap and a T-shirt.The Shed did not let me down.
A very unique place. The food was extremely good but the service was not. Lost our order until I checked on it. Only see very, very young workers like 13 maybe 14.
Stopped here on a suggestion from a friend and we’re so glad we did! We stayed for over 2 hours listening to live music, eating amazing food, and letting the kids play. So much to look at and enjoy. Seriously wish we had more time. If we’re ever in the area again, it’s will be our first stop. Can’t say enough good things about it.
I went there very first time and I was so impressed how they got all these “things” together to make this place look so cool. I had brisket and I have to say it was the most tasteful brisket I ever had. On little fatty side but it was So good!! Worth a try :)
