We loved everything about this place! The food, atmosphere and company was excellent. Robert was especially hospitable. My husband and I can’t wait to come back!!
The tacos and the service were excellent. We tried to experience the roof top bar but the music was too loud and the heat and humidity was uncomfortable, but I was on the Gulf coast in July so the heat/humidity was not a real factor just a contributing one.We did move to the air conditioned first floor where we were greeted with chip and salsa. I found the chips just to be chips but the others, more chip aficionados than I and I am serious they do like there tortilla chips, thought that they were some of the best chips they have had. Interesting how several people can vary on a simple subject. The ordered Margaritas of varying type and were very impressed. I simply got a Dos XX. Beware it did not say it on the menu, but it was not the Amber. It was the lager Especial and that goes for Modelo. We went there on Taco Tuesday so the street tacos where on special. Most of us stayed simple with the street Tacos but one person got a specialty shrimp taco with pineapple . It looked delicious and to hear him talk afterward I would definitely like to try the shrimp taco next time. This place is worth a try for several reason. Good food and service or even if it is to find out who is right about the tortilla chips. So, try the chips and see what you think.
First time visit here and had heard rave reviews. I ordered a veggie taco-it was probably the best veggie taco I’ve ever had. So flavorful and not stuffed with zucchini, which should never be put in a taco. The street corn dip is super yummy. I wish I could’ve brought a gallon of that stuff home. I’d like to go back and bring my husband who eats meat. I’m sure he’d love the other taco options. My only complaints are that the service was terrible. There were only four tables (6 people total) in the restaurant when I was there. Service was slower than it should’ve been and my appetizer was brought out with my meal. The only other issue was with the narrow table. The stools don’t fit under the table comfortably. I’m not a big girl and it was uncomfortable to try to sit with my legs under the table like you would normally sit.
Mostly decent place. Tacos are a bit overpriced IMO but have also had authentic tacos so I wasn’t surprised. Rooftop bar had good atmosphere but it’s quite hot, so I’d consider adding more fans and shade walls for guests dining so we aren’t blinded.Food was good - service was great, server was super nice as was the hostess. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, and we’re taken care of, the only complaint I have is that a girl was cleaning a close by table and the wind carried the cleaner spray right into our faces and table on our chips and everything. I don’t think the server knew how to handle the situation. I can only hope she told a manager and they find different cleaning solutions.
The menu was so awesome. The tacos were perfect and the owner was our server and he really knew what he was doing! Great suggestions and quick service. Will come back on my next getaway. Also the artwork inside and out is truly remarkable.
Service was good despite having a table for 12. As it was a work function, I can't attest to the mixed drinks but the chips and salsa were great; so were the steak tacos.I would not recommend this place for engagements that last more than 30 minutes or so though as the chairs were horribly uncomfortable. Metal low back bar stools with no padding. My butt was sore before I even got my food. Only complaint I've got about the place.
This is a place that makes you realize why your parents said. “There’s food at home.” Went there on a Thursday around 9. Went directly upstairs. Bartender was slammed, nice crowd a few tables were dirty. We took the only clean table. There were two waiters, Male and female that we’re standing behind us. So we sat and waited a few minutes while they finished there conversation. The female(who was new) walked off and the guy was still behind us counting money. We waited about 10 minutes on the third floor before I took initiative. I asked the waiter, is the kitchen still open, just to bring attention to us like hey, we’re patrons, waiting to spend money, help us a little. He replied yeah you have to order at the bar. Again, bar was packed! One guy working. So I said let’s head out. My date really wanted to give this place a chance. So we stopped at the ground floor. Immediately, got made communication with bartender, nice looking guy and the only reason I gave two stars instead of one. He brought us menus and told us we were on the late night menu. Okay. Late night menu, very basic. But for the prices I’m thinking this has got to be some good tacos. I ordered a rooftop margarita. Very good. We ordered two tacos and a quesadilla. With the prompt service downstairs I was thinking this should be fast. NO! 28 minutes for two tacos and a quesadilla they must have been chasing the chickens. There was a manager there. Managing his computer and his own belly. As they got their food super quick. Now back to the food that I was expecting to be the star. Again, NO. I should have cooked at home. Bland food. At least for $9 for two tacos. Very bland. Very meaty but you can do better at an authentic Mexican restaurant or again, at home. It was two tacos with meat, sweet Mayo and some cilantro food sequins. I’ll pass.
Drinks were so-so and more expensive than we have encountered elsewhere on Govt St. Food (chips salsa nachos) also so-so. No ambience. No atmosphere. Think plasticware and styrofoam everything. Server (bar tender) was making a great effort to be personable but ultimately failed. I had the notion to offer money to the sole "guitar player/singer" to quit playing but then realized it was cheaper to just leave, so we left.
This place has 3 floors! Great service and the food is authentic good quality at a cheap price. Try the Ghost pepper salsa! Rooftop has music and a great view. $2 domestic bottle happy hour 2-5:30. Ladies night 7-9 drink specials / DJ music 8-11. We walked from Davis Bayou Campground. Thank you bartender Robert! Will Return again.
Admittedly we were in Ocean Springs on a St Patty’s pup crawl night, however we stopped in and were told it was a 30 min wait. Seemed reasonable, so we put a name and number in and walked around. We have a 10 and 7 year old who were hungry but 30 mins seemed ok. We waited for over 1 hour for a table. Closer to 1.5 hours. All in all, the food was good (steak and chicken tacos better than carnitas which were recommended) the margaritas were only so so. Overall a disappointing experience. Just too long of a wait for the place overall, but wish they were more honest or knowledgeable about wait times. I also wish I read reviews on Trip amAdvisor first, as they seem fair.
