An absolutely Awesome Steak! Great service! We will return.
Always delicious and wonderful service
Great food and great service
Our group of 3 friends visited Charred for the Tuesday special, Prime Rib. We sat on the patio and waited 10 minutes before one of us went inside to get a server. Several minutes later, a server came to our table. Two prime ribs were ordered. The server asked how I wanted mine and I replied”as rare as possible”. My friend ordered his rare also. She returned with two plates. My prime rib was well done as was my friends. I didn’t taste mine because when I cut into it, I could see that it was WAY overcooked! My friend tasted his and his was also well done and COLD! We told the server our problems with the dish and she took them away. Within 2-3 minutes, she returned with our original steaks and said”The chef said ‘These are as rare as he has’”. She set the plates in front of us. Obviously, we refused and left. Apparently, these steaks are precooked, definitely NOT to order! It was the “special”. I guess everyone else who ordered prime rib after our 5 o’clock dining time had to be happy with well done, cold prime rib. We were so looking forward to dining on the patio at Charred, who was in the running for one of the top steak restaurants on the Coast. What a disappointment!?
This restaurant has a prime rib special on Tuesday. Our group ordered 2 RARE prime ribs. We when received our plates, both of them were well done and COLD. We informed the waitress and she took them back. She immediately returned with the SAME plates and told us the chef said that those steaks were as rare as he had. It’s a shame that what we heard of this supposedly “upscale” restaurant can’t cook a steak to order. Don’t waste your time or money at this place. There are so many wonderful places to eat at in ocean springs.
So, we found this place by a recommendation. We didn't know about this little downtown / old town area. This area is very cute. We lucked out and found parking right in front. We found a table outside, which was Very nice, quiet and cozy. We had two waitresses and they were very attentive and helpful. We asked about the fried caprese? What? Fried? Well, only the ball of cheese is fried. She said it is quite a hit and many people order it. We took a chance and ordered it. When it came to the table, we attacked it and let me tell you, it was very good. The cheese was not exactly melty. The little tomatoes were tasty with the Arugula. Our next order was 2 filet, oysters and the prime rib. The filets were a bit small but prepared just right. Medium rare. They really sear their steaks. Good flavor. Do yourself a favor and order the larger filet. 1 dozen oysters. Our people said the oysters were awesome and Fresh. They could have done a few more, they were so good. I ordered the prime rib, medium rare. Disappointment was immediately. The meat was medium. Whatever the weight, half was fat. Big chunks of fat. Yea, I know this cut has fat. That is flavor. But for that price, I want more, edible meat. The dish came with mash potato and asparagus. I asked for horseradish but they had a creamy one on the meat already. The mash was very good and flavorful. Drinks were pretty good. In all, the food was good. Mine was mediocre. The chairs, ah, the chairs. These were the most uncomfortable chairs that i have sat in. The women complained that they felt like they were going to fall over the back. Nobody liked these chairs. That's why the 4 stars. I don't know what the inside seating and atmosphere were like so, sorry if this is your favorite place. This was my experience on this day. We probably won't have a chance to try again and see if maybe this was a one off. There are too many good restaurants and good experienced that we had during this trip, so I can't highly recommend this place for prime rib but the other cuts were good. If we were in town again for a few days, I would try again. Good luck.
Chef Milton served three amazing surprise courses just before closing. The best experience!
Good food and service! Definitely worth a try.
Management is the worst. Not kid friendly and a waste of money. It’s definitely a disappointment! Very unprofessional and rude staff. *Would not recommend.
Nice atmosphere. Our waitress was wonderful, attentive, and even asked our preferred pronouns! Steak was so tender you didn't need a knife. We had the Pecan pie for dessert which was delicious as well.
