**** updated *** see receipt . Be aware that this bar charges 18% gratuity no matter what! The front of the house is the secret of the speak easy - the diner. The happy hour is stellar … for one drink. My second drink was weaker and sloppy. I ordered a drink with one huge ice cube (per previous orders) and they handed me many. The drink was weaker and the balance was off …I suggest ordering drinks upfront with an amazing junior burger and shake with a smile.

I was so excited to come here! The bar is beautiful, ambiance is amazing, but the shorter blonde bartender (I was told she was the bar manager) just about ruined our experience; that wasn’t so fun. We stood and watched her clean liquor bottles, input credit card tips, wipe the tiny bar several times- anything except ask us what we needed. We clearly needed service, we were holding our credit cards and staring at her. Then suddenly her friend came in! Lucky him, she dropped her bar rag to yell over the heads of customers and past us to ask what he needed! Food? Drink? Whatever you need, friend! Anyway, he was happily eating his food before she even asked my friend what he needed. She never did ask me what I needed. I’m not sure what we did to make her mad, but whatever it was, my bad girl!!

The ambiance was perfect. The short female and tall male bartenders were absolutely miserable and rude human beings in general. We have received nothing but delightful service during this trip to Jackson, with the extreme exception of these two trolls. I didn’t even order a drink. We were reviewing the soda shop for our foodie friends in NCY. We had the delightful staff from the sofa shop keeping an eye on our puppy while we slipped back for a quick drink and review. The jury is back with one star. Ambience great. Staff horrific.

ProsThe drinks are made to perfectionThe vibe is very chillGreat for small parties who want to have good convoKitchen stays open lateConsSmall spaceDrinks are more expensive, but worth it

One of the best speakeasy’s I’ve been to. The place is in the back of an old school diner. The drinks are amazing!!! The atmosphere is awesome. You can even request music sometimes, if you get to know the staff. One of my favorite spots in MS!!

Originally a soda fountain in the Pharmacy, this place was updated recently without erasing the turquoise booths and original soda fountain. Total small town vibes. My breakfast was delicious. I didn’t have a milkshake but they looked amazing.

Extremely prejudice/discriminatory against minorities…... we were blatantly ignored by all staff for over 20 minutes while other customers were being served around our table….we walked to the front to ask for service and were still ignored while speaking as if we didn’t exist…. Then we were yelled at, demeaned and denied service by our waitress! Completely unprofessional….. Degrading and rude…this restaurant does not even deserve one star!!!We eventually walked next door to the Tiki bowling alley….the staff was amazing and offered excellent service!I am a world traveler…Seattle Native…Houston resident…and businesses management professional…This was my first time exploring “Things to Do” in Jackson Mississippi. This speakeasy poetry lounge …was a complete disappointment and they didn’t even have one poet or microphone in the building?..…I’ve had better service in Third World Countries. Zero Stars Does Not Recommend

Brent's Drugs is an important part of the culinary history of Jackson, Mississippi. Located at 655 Duling Avenue, in the Woodland Hills Shopping Center, it is a classic drug store and soda fountain dating to 1946 that serves ice cream favorites and diner comfort food. It was founded by pharmacist Alvin Brent, who left Patterson's Drugs in downtown Jackson to open his own pharmacy and soda fountain in the Fondren neighborhood. Brent sold his business in 1977. After some renovations and a few owners, today the soda fountain and classic bar stools remain in the original 1946 site. Open from 7 to 7:30 Tuesday through Friday, 8 to 7:30 on Saturday and 10 to 2 on Sunday, Brent's reminds of the old-time drug store that was a popular gathering place for kids and neighbors. After reading about Brent's in a travel magazine, my wife and I made a point of stopping en route from Memphis to St. Francisville, Louisiana. For lunch, we had a Brent's Burger with Angus beef, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles and a Patty Melt with Angus beef, grilled onions and cheddar cheese on Texas toast. With house fries, a bowl of chili and glasses of Barqs root beer and fresh squeezed lemonade. For dessert, how can you pass up a Banana Split with vanilla and chocolate ice cream, fresh bananas, hot fudge, strawberry syrup, caramel, pecans, whipped cream and a cherry? To reach Brent's, exit I-55 at Lakeland Drive, drive west to Old Canton Road, then north to Duling Avenue. lt's worth the trip.

Great experience and food. Our service was excellent. Price was $18.00 for a float, apple pie ala mode, cookie monster sundae, and a milkshake. Pie was delicious (dutch apple). The diner itself was like walking back in time with a 50’s-60’s vibe. Would highly recommend.

great cocktails!
