Absolutely the finest in the area / staff is wonderful / owner is always on hand and is one of the finest in the area / I have eaten in the finest restaurants from Chicago to the west coast none can compare with the service and food !!! And has the best coffee anywhere / onion rings with every order if you want!!! Music is mostly oldies and at level so you can talk to your partner while enjoying the restaurant - I have been eating there for over 30 years - nothing has changed - he has a 7ft security guard that can make you feel very safe. You just have to try it if you have not, you would be missing a great and memorable outing
This was our first time here based on rave reviews of locals and packed parking lot whenever we drive by . . . has to be good right? Sorry but from the near-dark lighting, cramped table for three people and obviously short-handed wait staff that took forever to take an order, the visit started out on a negative. My wife wanted the stuffed crab cakes and was told they had no stuffing tonight so all the stuffed items were off the menu. I opted for spaghetti and meatballs (pretty hard to mess that up) as I am not a big seafood person and the veal was also not available. She asked what sides I wanted and offered fries or a baked potato – for spaghetti? When I said neither she said I could have a double salad which was never brought when the other person in the party said I could have his. So pay for it but don’t get it was the motto. When the food arrived, the waitress did not clear the salad plates (now empty) and simply squeezed the food amongst the dirty dishes. She said that the spaghetti was home made . . . don’t buy it. My wife looked at the meatballs and said they were frozen that had been reheated (based on shape and color) and the spaghetti was swimming in water as they had not drained it. After waiting for the waitress to return and not seeing her, I tried to eat it and got in about 3 or 4 bites. When everyone else was done, she came by and asked if I wanted a to go box. If a waitress sees a plate virtually untouched, you would think she would ask if there was something wrong. I had to call her back and point out the issue – her response was that they could drain it and that was it . . . we were done so draining it was not an option 30 minutes after it had been delivered. For $23, it had to have been the worst dish of spaghetti I had ever had even at half the price – IHOP would have been a better option. My wife’s dinner was acceptable but not anything she wanted to go back again for. Overall we found the place to be overpriced, under lit and short staffed. The owner was walking around but I guess once you place your order, he knows to avoid the table. Another local legend that time seems to have passed by . . . glad they remain busy but from someone that travels a good deal and has eaten at a number of top-notch local restaurants, Crechele’s misses the mark for us by a long shot.
Loved the history of this place, the owner has an incredible memory of people and faces. Food was good and atmosphere was great. They follow Covid rules and regulations
We have eaten at Crechales since we were both young kids & enjoy taking our own girls now. Food is so delicious that we always leave way too full. I get the broiled scallops or stuffed shrimp because no other restaurant can come close to me on those. Their steak is prime beef so my husband always chooses it. Large portions & great, friendly service! We end up leaving with a bottle of the best comeback sauce too every time. Can’t recommend this nostalgic place enough, especially if it’s for a birthday!
This place is amazing! The whole staff is super friendly, they are funny, and the owner, Mr. Bob is one of the nicest people I’ve met in the jackson area. The stuffed shrimp is amazing! The onion rings are crispy and delicious, and their house sauce is the best comeback sauce I’ve had- and you can buy some to take home! Go have your next date night here. The retro cafe with a jukebox is like taking a step back in time.
Been going here for over 30 years ...always good...definite throwback
I have been wanting to eat here for quite some time. My friend and I had an early dinner. First off it’s a cool, old building and it’s nothing fancy but I liked it. The inside was just as old fashioned as the outside but again I though it was neat. The inside is very dark but you can request a small light if you would like. I don’t like bright lights shining down when I’m eating so I rather enjoyed the dimness although it was almost too dim. Servers were nice ladies and again they reminded me of how servers used to be. They were nice and attentive. I did feel bad about my lady having to constantly refill my tea. They serve your drink in the old style water glass so it is very small. I drink a lot of tea so she was constantly there refilling. She was efficient as my glass never was empty for very long. And she always did it pleasantly. Just wished they had full sized glasses. Salad was okay but I didn’t care for Comeback dressing and their other choice was Bleu Cheese which I also don’t care for. You could get oil and vinegar but that was all. I really wanted to try the onion rings but they were a large serving and I knew we would waste most of them. Wish you could get 1/2 order. We both ordered steaks. Both were slightly undercooked from what we’d ordered. I ate mine anyway but my friend sent hers back. It took forever. When she did get it back, it was much too done but she didn’t say anything. She just tried her best to eat some of it. The owner was nice and friendly even though he didn’t know us. I really like that in a business. It seemed like he cared that we were there. You don’t get that much these days. He even thanked us when we left. When we arrived we were the only ones there but the place started filling up quickly. We left about an hour later and there weren’t hardly any spaces to park by then. Overall I really liked eating here. You felt like you were back in the 60s or 70s which these days sounds like a pretty good place to be.
Great place to eat. Highly recommend it.
Awesome service and great food! Our first time, but not not our last!
Absolutely delicious stuffed crab!! Great service and up beat atmosphere. Great to see a restaurants staff smiling. Felt like a teenager again in South Jackson. Thank you Creshales staff for bringing back some normalcy much needed❤️
