Can’t beat the grilled ear sandwich ??
The food is excellent as always but the gentleman working in the kitchen/taking orders is one of the rudest people I’ve seen in this location. Had 3 new customers with me for those famous ears & smokes, he’s makes me definitely rethink coming back as long as he’s there just nasty customer service skills!!!
Visited 4/12/22 I had been wanting to try this place since I saw it featured on DDD, and I wasnt let down. The smoked sausage/red-hot sandwich was delicious, the tamales were even better. I wouldn't order the pig ear again, just not for me that day. Fast and friendly service. If you think you can eat 2, order 3. They're smaller than you think.
Definitely not fast but well worth the experience.

This place is horribe‼️‼️ Rude Rude Rude, I spoke and the lady taking the order never said a word and was yelling out people orders with an attitude like seriously this is the absolute worse
The customer service at this location is HORRIBLE and I mean HORRIBLE!!!! So if you don't mind a long wait with attitude,then this is your place! We ended up just walking out with a couple other customers.
I wish i could leave -0 stars,because the customer service is horrible !!!!!!It's been 10 yrs since I've been here,because the last time the women were doing hair behind the counter as they served the food??♀️Im talking hair products & all laid out on the counter where food was being served!Now the servers have the nastiest attitude ever‼️
Last week I made a 1st time purchase at the Farris St location. 6 smokes & 3 pig ear sliders. A very long wait ( 11:30 am) employees all but rude/indifferent. Surprisingly my sliders had 1 2 inch X 2 inch portion of Pig Ear, it was struggling to meet the edge of the roll... The prices have gone up, the portions are decreasing & the service is lousy as usual. I normally shop at the State St location, I plan to return there & if the portions are not acceptable I will stop patronizing the Big Apple, it's not worth it...
Whenever I am in the area I make it a point to get the pig ear sliders, these are amazing. Haven’t tried the tamales but will the next time I’m in Jackson. Living in Houston we don’t have restaurants that serve this type of comfort food. I wish the would consider branching out to Houston Cypress area. Or just setup a overnight delivery, I will be a lifetime customer. Love the Big Apple…
