Good place to eat, clean and nice atmosphere. fair salad bar though not enough toppings. but loved our evening.
We passed the sign many times on hwy 49 on our travels between Colorado and Florida. Today we turned at the sign to find a short drive to the restaurant for Sunday Buffet. We are both native southerners and love the chance to get real southern food. Mack’s was a great find with fried chicken, ribs and catfish along with all the sides, biscuits and corn muffins and yummy desserts. Staff was super nice. Highly recommend.
We were camping at Paul B Johnson State Park and wanted some great fried catfish and this place did not disappoint. The buffet is a sampler of simple southern comfort food done right! Our favorites included the whole fried fish, fried oysters, boiled and fried shrimp, collard greens, black eyed peas, squash, and tasty desserts. The restaurant had large seating capacity, was very clean and staff was very nice.
Was pretty pricey for what they had on the buffet. I'm assuming due to covid their prices went up. So if you're looking at the menu online and see the prices, add about $12 to that. Other than that the food was good.
I can rave about how awesome the food is. But it won't be good enough. If you haven't ever eaten here, you should. As I said, the food is awesome. The staff is great. I would say it's the best buffet.
First time here and honestly I wasn’t that impressed with the quality of the food. They offer a Seafood buffet or you can order off the menu. The buffet is $32.99 per person, drinks extra. Buffet does have a good selection of food and sides. We ordered off the menu, combo plates, whole catfish, stuffed (fried) crab, catfish filets plus sides. The whole catfish was small and very over cooked, the filets were better. The stuffed crab was mostly stuffing, couldn’t taste the crab (don’t recommend). The fried okra wasn’t the best and green beans tasted like they came from a can. I didn’t care for the hush puppies either. Overall just not for me.
We had the buffet. Shrimp/ fish was excellent, everything thing else was good except runny & flavorless Mac & cheese and some fish with cheese blobbed on it (nasty).... Salad bar was a sorry joke, desert bar had chocolate & strawberry cake that looked like som kid just got done muxin in... Waitress was was very nice & on top of everything ....... Though the fish & shrimp were excellent, for $66 and some change for 2 people I feel it was pretty sorry & sad for the price they charge versus what you you get.... For my money (or yours) I’ll stay with GOLDEN CORRAL a much better deal all the way around.
It should be standard to have a dolly to carry you to your car next to every diner, because you'll need it! Their food is impossible to stop eating, IT'S THAT GOOD!
Amazing food! Servers were really nice and helpful. They even let.me try the wine before I bought a glass.
Went there 1-29-2022 We drove a hour to eat at Mack’s Service was good Price was good Food was great We were a party of 5 Everyone enjoyed the food We will be back soon
