El Rayo was a decent restaurant. Great service and outdoor atmosphere. They were extremely busy for when we went (5pm, Sat.), but we’re able to stay on top of service. My 4 stars is because you don’t really get a lot of food for the price. My husband got the Fandango Skillet and got 4 small pieces of skirt steak. I had more steak in my tacos then he did.Aside from that, they do give you a large basket of chips and for Hattiesburg, they actually have really good water. Every other restaurant I’ve been to, their water taste like gross tap water. I didn’t realize that they have a seating area on top of the restaurant. Will definitely sit up there next time we go.

I was extremely disappointed we were unable to eat our food. We went to a wedding and place was recommended by the couple. Everything in the plate has tons of the red chili like most restaurants have sprinkled on chips or another spice my husband, who is Hispanic, said people that are usually poor use to season their foods. It was in the rice, beans, enchiladas I ordered. The salsa was way over spices with condiments! There literally was nothing we could eat! We paid $38.00 for nothing! Never will go to this place!

We don’t want just the salsa and chips to be said that “We are closed” by the server… Like how does that even makes sense. We were there at 8pm and they stop by our table at 9:15pm and said our kitchen is closed. We were invisible to them the whole time?? I need a answer for that. It is understandable that they were busy but isn’t it’s their responsibility to stop by and say it’s time to close and get our order early. We also ordered some drinks and that was never was received as well. It was such an disappointing experience. It was my first time there and I should say it’s my last too. We all were so hungry and everyone got crazy after that.I loved the vibe around and it seemed like a good place to hang out, but after all it comes to service. I hope they make improvements on that.

I did not have a good experience. The food was cold but it took 40 minutes from being seated to receiving our food. There were two different menus which caused confusion between me, my friend and the server. We kept hearing, the kitchen is all messed up. La Fiesta Brava is tried and true. I understand the Covid has wrecked many things but for cold food and lackluster service, there is no excuse.

David Smith is the best server in town, he goes above and beyond. The food here has such a great flavor and taste; it changed my opinion on Tex-Mex. I originally had plans to go somewhere else but I wanted to try this new restaurant out and I'm so glad we did.

This was a happy find! We’re on a big family trip and just decided to have Tex Mex and found this outstanding restaurant! We had tacos and quesadillas. The food is super delicious! Whenever you are in Hattiesburg I highly recommend this place.

This place is awesome the food was spectacular and we sat outside and you feel like you are in Mexico eating at an authentic Mexican restaurant we will be back next Tuesday for lunch. The Modelo was good and very cold. Love love this place also met Robert St John and had a photograph taken my wife was over the top.

Anytime you go to a Mexican restaurant and they have canned beans and boxer ice you know you're going to have a bad experience. Maybe just go for drinks and chips and salsa well I will say the 1 enchilada was okay but the chimichanga was horrible

The queso fundido is soooooo amazing. I highly recommend this great appetizer. The outside patio is super cool too!

Um how do I say this? No. Just no. I'd like to keep an open mind and went here despite the reviews. I'm sorry to say that if this business wants to keep going they gotta make better food. Service? GREAT! Atmosphere? GREAT! Food!? Oh hell naw.
