First time at El Aguila and it was fantastic. Everything we had was made from scratch. We ordered the guacamole that is made tableside. Chips were homemade, light and not greasy at all. For dinner I had the steak fajitas. Meat was cooked to your liking, homemade corn tortillas. We also ordered the chicken enchiladas that had wonderful flavor and not drowned in sauce. Great cocktails, wonderful staff. The owner/ chef came out and checked on us as well. Definitely be back
Patron marg too alcoholy; chips & salsa good; cheese enchilada ok; canasta & fundido awful; Atmosphere & staff divine!
I had stumbled upon this place after a co worker had tried it out. Went for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised! Friendly staff, very cool environment, and the food was great and not too expensive! Will definitely be returning!
Start to finish excellent authentic Mexican food and service. The chips and salsa are fresh and I know this is an a opinion, but the heat in the salsa was fine with both my wife and I and that is tough mark to hit. We had the avocado stuffed with chicken and the mole poblano. Both were delicious and portions were spot on. The building itself inside is beautiful as well. A very nice experience all around.
First time here. Drove all the way from OS because my girlfriend had been here.I must say the BEST SALSA around. AND they make a Pineapple Salsa as well.AND they offer the Happy hour drinks in the dining room.We shared the Tuna Ceviche which was way more than we expected. Very fresh and tasty. Then we shared the chicken fajitas and also very good.Definitely be back.
Did not have a good experience. My friend took me there for my birthday. There was a wait for a table so they seated us at the bar and said it would be fifteen minutes. Thirty minutes later we were still sitting there and two other couples were seated in front of us. We were finally seated in a separate room from other people and took a very long time to be waited on. After getting there at 6:30 we received our food at 7:40 pm. This is unacceptable and I will never return to this restaurant!
It's ok just supposed to be higher level mextex food. Sauce was so hot was unable to eat. Restaurant needs to understand that some folks cannot tolerate hot sauce and needs to offer a mild sauce.
My wife and I ate here two years ago while on a business trip. We remembered it being a wonderful experience. We were hoping for the same this time. It actually exceeded our expectations. First of all, the chips and salsa are incredible. The menu isn’t your typical Mexican dishes that all taste the same. I ordered the ribs. They were fall off the bone scrumptious. They had a great flavor as well. My wife ordered the grilled zucchini with shrimp and steak. The sauce was so yummy, and the steak was tender and flavorful. We had great service as well from Jenna. The chef came out and we thanked him personally for such a wonderful meal. I highly recommend this place for upscale Mexican eating!
Fantastic restaurant! Truly gourmet Mexican food. Best homemade tortilla chips I have ever had and their salsa is the best I have had. Portions are generous and staff is friendly and professional. Have frequented this restaurant numerous times. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want great Mexican food!
Found this place while staying a week in Gulfport visiting my daughter and son-in-law who are new to the area and we went twice because this place is EXCELLENT! I come from a area with about 15 Mexican restaurants(not counting Taco Bells) in a 20 minute drive and NOTHING has compared to our experience here. Was a little hesitant to start with because we didn’t see any cars out front(parking is outback also) and the area is a little dark but once you park and walk up you’ll see the nice little outdoor seating area and then once you are inside it was VERY nicely decorated and clean, nicer than we’ve experienced in our Mexican restaurants back home. The staff was top notch and very attentive and super friendly. They are part of the whole experience of this restaurant with answering all questions, making suggestions and carrying on a conversation. The drinks(margaritas) are EXCELLENT and a nice selection. They even brought us samples of other flavors like the healthy one with cucumber and a avocado one as well, you couldn’t go wrong with either. Then there was the food OMG the BEST we have had in any state we’ve been too. The selections were amazing and we all tried different things and some of us even tried things we hadn’t or normally wouldn’t like chorizo and tamales. Everything and I seriously mean everything from the nacho chips and salsa, stuffed avocado, carne asada, fajitas, quesadillas, tacos, tamales, queso, etc..everything we had was top notch! You can’t go wrong with any of the meats you pick as a filling either, chicken, steak, brisket, pulled pork, fish, it was all so perfectly flavored and prepared. The refried beans and rice was even better than all other places. The 2nd night we did dessert and the flan was great but the chocolate flan was superb, you need to leave room to try it seriously. This is not like Taco Bell, it is not fast, cheap, a chain, it doesn’t have a drive-through and it’s not “American” Mexican food prepared from a can, bag or box served without (sometimes) a personality. So to make this a fair review I will leave my only 2 suggestions 1st a baby changing station in the restroom and a more well lit parking lot. But seriously this is a top notch Mexican food dining experience that I hate we won’t get to have on a regular basis. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Just want to add the $20-30 per person I selected for price is based on meal, margaritas, dessert and adding queso for the chips and salsa so you can definitely eat here under that.
