Amazing little brewery & restaurant. Great selection of imported classic German/Belgian beers. Tasty bites including brats/sausages/pretzels & pizza.
This is a unique brewery unlike anything you'll find in the twin cities metro area. First, this brewery is chalk full of history. While this location is not the original brewery (which burnt down in the 50s), the building is about 110 years old, and is decorated in a way that does justice to the historic nature of the building.Second, the brewery really is more known for its imported European beer, including about ten that are on tap. The brewery does offer three of its own brews, which again, are historic in nature.Third, the bartender is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the beers offered. Many of the beers are special releases and may be difficult, if not nearly impossible, to find in the USA.Prices are a touch on the high side, but after paying the tab, you'll still feel like you received decent value. The brewery does offer food, which is nice. There are multiple options (more than most breweries). The brewery offers flights (4 ounce pours). Only the beers on tap are eligible, and due to the extensive beer menu, you will assuredly find some beers you wish you could taste instead of buying a pricy bottle. There really are only three downsides to this brewery. First, the parking isn't great (on street parking only). Second, the Yoerg beer really isn't that good. Having only three beers is limiting, and the styles are not creative. Instead, they are definitely outdated (think beer designed for 150 years ago). Third, they charge two and a half percent credit card fee (with a tiny note on one page of the menu, but otherwise without disclosure until you receive your bill). I understand the cost of doing business is going up, but I really find this in bad taste as most people are paying by credit cards anyways.
The best brewery in the town! I like the how they have maintained the authenticity of the brewery itself and the informative menu. Besides the tasty German beers they got their own house beers that are brewed very well to the taste buds. I loved the food, OMG!! The taste was simple and rich. I regret exploring this early, but glad I have had experienced.
Very fun brewer. They have so many imported beers and wine. Many are on tap. Plus they have different sausages and pretzels to try. Different other dishes like pickled eggs or pies with alcohol are on the menu as well. I like to get a flight of beers with lighter to darker and a dessert beer at the end. I've been going there since the new opening and love being a patron. I'll be coming back much more to check out the new beers and foods. When you're in talk to the bartender, he's very knowledgeable of beers, foods, and places like Belgium.
This is the place to go if you are looking for rare beers especially Belgian and other European styles. I was impressed that they even had the matching glassware to go along with the beer you order. They have great food menu to go along with the delicious beers, ciders, and wines. The bartenders are very knowledgeable about the drinks they are serving.
Very nice small place rich in history. The owner came around and chatted with everyone who came through the door. The beer and food was excellent. The weisswurst, potato salad and the pretzels were great Friendly and nice staff. Reminded us of Germany.
I wish we would have known about the place years ago. It has fantastic beers and the staff treats you like they have known you forever. We willbe going quite often now.
We went to St. Paul today and stopped at a favorite, Yoerg Brewing. Yoerg is th oldest brewery in Minnesota. They have some very tasty foods, old world charm and classic European beers. Whenever we are in the area, we have to stop.
Delicious beer paired well with the wurst platter. Definitely try the Black Forest Lager. Such a nice space and good atmosphere. I loved talking to the owner about the history of Yoerg Brewery and the beer varieties. We'll be back for sure!
Yoerg brewing is the kind of place that you can settle into a chair and become a regular quickly! It is a warm and cozy Brewery. Tom, the owner, is just the most amazing person. He travels throughout Europe to select the beers that are on the menu, and is also quite a wine connoisseur. On a slower night, get him talking about beer or wine, and you will have the most amazing experience with his stories. I have quickly fallen in love with this wonderful Saint Paul Brewery! I cannot recommend Yoerg Brewery any higher.Update: The bar/restaurant is now decorated for Christmas, and so romantic and fun! I was just there two nights ago, and Tom is slowly rolling out the dark beers from Europe (fitting for cold nights in St. Paul!). I had a Ukrainian Baltic Porter that just was.... unbelievable. So perfect for a cold and snowy night. I love the Yoergs atmosphere and vibe!
