The best little, diner-style, breakfast spot that I've hit on the greater East side.. Dangerously close to home, opening the earliest around at the butt crack of dawn, I fear for the amount of unnecessary, necessary times I may end up eating here. The bill on my endeavor; $15-$16. I ordered hot chocolate after immediately being greated with a smile and a water. Further examination of the menu (focusing on breakfast this round) the joint offered such an incredible array of courses, with many varieties within each dish. I ordered an omelet, with my choice of bacon and cheese inside to their many options (that I'll more than likely try all of. And it was phenomenal (and very large). It came with my choice of hash browns, or breakfast potatoes, and my choice of a biscuit and gravy, or biscuits or toast. Half of my hash brown and omelet (perfect adaption when combined) we're immediately put in a to go box for leftovers (2for one if you ask me). Thank you for the kind and punctual service. I'll be back for sure.
We have been going to 'Maggie's' for years, and it kills me to write a bad review for them. The food is almost always wonderful, the service good, and yet my husband, the original East-Sider says he'll never go back. Last week, we thought we had a new exceptional waitress.....until we got to the cash register. Our bill was $28.08. We gave her $50.00 and 8 cents. Simple math, $22 in change. Instead she hands him a few fives and a fistful of ones. He saw something was off, and sure enough she short-changed him. (we left a very good tip) The next day he called to talk to the manager, and she was very rude to him, it just had to be an honest mistake, blablabla. But the kicker was when she said she 'supposed she could scrape up a few ones' to make up the difference. What kind of manager talks to a customer like that. That's when he decided to leave 30 years of custom behind.
I've gone here a few times for brunch and lunch. There's always a wait but that's for good reason. Food is always great and service is pretty prompt. Staff feels like my aunt who loves me with tough love and I mean that in the best way possible.
This was our first time eating here.. omg talk about good food.. great service as well.. everything was cooked perfect. We will be back again and again!!!!??
Me and my significant other went had breakfast and dinner there on Thursday night and the service was amazing and the cook was a new guy but did have no problems ordering. Love this small Eastside mom and pop restaurant. ❤️
This place is how cafes were when I was a kid. Good food quality, lots of home cooking. I had the hot turkey sandwich. Turkey off the bone, homemade gravy, and real mashed potatoes.
What a gem of Saint Paul’s east side. I’m so glad this place made it through the pandemic. Enjoyed a big helping of pancakes with real whipped butter and a delicious, simple blueberry syrup. I can’t decide if I like regular or blueberry syrup better. The service is humble, direct and attentive. This is exactly what you want and expect in a local restaurant. There’s an edgy attitude, and I like it. We enjoyed our meal and I look forward to coming back. Portions are generous and restaurant is clean, tidy and cozy.
Their food is awesome! Thank you for the wonderful lunch! Had the meatloaf special and the Reuben sandwich. Of course we got two pieces of pie to go! People are very nice, the restaurant is fortunate to have such good employees!
Love this local spot. I never order french toast usually, I'm a hot cakes girl but after relocating I drive almost 20 miles one way to get there french toast. Staff is always personable and Friendly. Food is hot, fast and good. A must if you're around or in town. Breakfast is served all day! Def a plus
Cute little diner. We had great service with a smile. Food was basic diner food but was delicious. Will definitely come back again when I'm in the city visiting my daughter.
