I wanted to like this cute bistro so bad. It was adorable with live piano player and ample crowd had me optimistic. We ordered the chicken lefse and meatballs. The chicken was so dry the sauce wasn't even enough for me to not be reaching for water after each bite. My husband had the meatballs with potatoes which were instant. The Karelian pies were bland...but one of the two we had had a long hair baked into it, we didn't notice this until after we had eaten out entrees. The staff replaced both. Very disappointing, we will not be back.
This is probably my favorite coffee shop/cafe in the Twin Cities. I am never disappointed, ever. There's lots of space to sit, the staff & owner are just so kind & easy to talk to, the coffee that they use is from one of my favorite coffee roasters in Minneapolis, they have a full food menu, and they have a TON of baked goods! Plus it's tucked away in a very cute park of the Como neighborhood. I can't recommend this place enough :)
I love this place. Today was the first time I tried it. The staff was super helpful and friendly - I only regret not catching their names so I could give them a shout-out for their great service. The food was phenomenal in my opinion. I live far away so I can only visit every so often, but if I lived nearby I would definitely visit regularly. Also the almond kringler in particular was divine! They also have a nice variety of espresso-based drinks available (caffeinated and/or decaf), as well as other non-coffee based drinks, which is something that I really appreciate in these types of restaurants when they have it. Thank you!
I had the spicy Viking burger and honestly my taste buds are in Valhalla. I definitely Finnished my meal. Would return again and again.
The perfect breakfast/lunch spot. We always save room after the state fair for Finnish Bistro. Buy a few bags of their great coffee while you’re there
Overpriced but somewhat good. Had the oatcakeswhich were decent and the reindeer sausage was good but the deal breaker is only supplying plastic silverware which is brutal to try and said food this way. Coffee was just ok.
I really wanted to like this place but they forgot about our meal and I had an incredibly awkward time trying to get the food we paid for and waited an hour for. The rain deer sausage is a bit of a gimmick. Come for coffee and pastries.
Great breakfast, coffee, and vegetarian options. I love the walnut burger.
This is a delicious bakery and cafe in my neighborhood. They serve Finnish pastries, desserts, soup, breakfasts, lunch and dinner. Love their crispy coconut chicken salad or sandwich. Extensive menu and fast take out.
Came in last night (03Dec22) to a largely empty restaurant. Many times, that worries me, but in this instance I had a great experience. The employees and whom I believe to be the owner were great. The guy cleaning the seating area was so patient with us and the fact that my toddler had thrown food around (which we were trying to pick up to leave less of a mess!) The owner seemed really down to earth and with a fun personality and great sense of humor.FOOD: Food was awesome and really good sizes! My son eats a ton, and all three of us were able to be full at the end. I mention this because there's a lot of places I go where I'm often left hungry myself. The food was great tasting and not over saturated with seasonings or flavorings like some places. This was great because it meant my son (19 months) scarfed it down too. The coffee was great and so was the cake---oh man the cake! If you're like me and not much into so many of the hyper sweet cakes that seem to be out there, this is the place for you. They have a balanced, subtle sweetness and use much better ingredients for the frosting. (less of that generic "off" taste that so many of the cheaper cakes have) Plus it was buy a slice get one free (of the same cake) so I got one for today too.We stopped in on a whim after a doctor appointment down the street and I'm so glad we did! We have a new spot to keep on our food radar when we're looking for something and trying to break the habit of going to all the places immediately around our house! Looking forward to stopping in again!
