We were in St. Paul for a party on Saturday night and some friends recommended the Day by Day Cafe for breakfast on Sunday morning. Great food, casual atmosphere, and music too. We will return!
A worthy stop for a whole-food, plant-based breakfast! Unexpected quality service for a Monday brunch with my grandparents inspired this 5⭐️ review today! The three busy staff were generous in lending a small cushion for my grandfather’s seat for the wooden booth when requested, going above and beyond to share one of their own sweatshirts to make him comfortable. A special shout out to Pedro in the kitchen and the servers for accommodating the special request for cooking with water (instead of oil/butter) in my dish and checking the ingredients of certain products; the patience and helpfulness was so appreciated! ;I highly recommend #22 the “Tofu-Veggie Sauté” (see photo) and the coffee with soy milk to my Vegan friends! A hot and tasty morning plate!
What a unique restaurant! Lots of rooms that made each area seem more private. The eclectic decorations gave us lots to look at throughout the building. Even the restroom was whimsical. Too cold to spend time in the back yard, but the pond looked very inviting.
Went in for a quick breakfast for me my husband and grands. Husband and I ended up with lunch instead! Portions were huge food was hot service was friendly and the atmosphere was cozy and homey very reasonably priced as well. Definitely will go again when I the area! Only downside was it could use a good dusting..
Must have been the first ones through the door just a little after 7 am. We were immediately seated. I picked this place for two reasons they open at 7 am and their prices aren't that bad. They don't serve alcohol unlike a few of the restaurants that open in the a.m. in this area. The French Toast was very good, thick, soft, not your typical cuts of bread. Bacon was on point. Eggs were decent. They didn't charge extra for the peanut butter, which was a surprise.A buddy of mine got the Ravous Rancheros. He's a local and said it was better than other breakfast places where he's tried the Ravous Rancheros. Another buddy got a mushroom burger. He said it was very good as well. The booths are pretty small 4 maximum in most of the booths. There are numerous areas to sit but doesn't look like any place for large families.Kinds interesting set up. They had a container with only a few napkins but numerous forks and knives. More than what the table would need. The service was decent, seemed like their was only one server. But their was only 7 people in the restaurant.Lastly they will serve breakfast lunch and dinner at anytime I believe. So that's a plus for night shifters. The place looked relatively clean and sanitary. The only reason for a 4 star is due to the delay in getting the bill and water stained menus. The food was delicious and definitely priced under what others are charging for ambiance and fancy stuff.
Had a really great breakfast today, generously portioned and beautifully made. Avocado in my omelet was perfectly creamy and ripe. Love the multi grain toast, seeded and fancy. Brisk, friendly service. A great neighborhood place.
All the places I wanted to have breakfast at were closed. We found this place open and tried it. The hostess was friendly, the service was good and the coffee was hot. The food came out soooo fast! It was very good. I'm glad all the other places were closed because now I've found my favorite breakfast place. Did I mention the bacon was fantastic? Restaurant bacon is never fantastic. Highly recommend.
Great service. Our order was out quickly and everything was exactly how we ordered it. The avocado toast with pumpkin seeds was really good. We also ordered a pretty basic breakfast which was also good.....But next time I'm getting the avocado toast.
this place is so rad! we got breakfast and it was exactly what you wanted it to be, and fairly priced. service is swift, and that’s prefect for here. best breakfast on seventh for sure
Just a solid anchor of good cafe atmosphere with a social entrepreneurial mission. Based on the concept that service and a classic breakfast menu meets everyone's needs with a core of community. Founded on the "one day at a time" principles of recovery, the staff are rooted in best practices of employing those who need a better kind of employment- it shows in resilience, a throw back to earlier days of the neighborhood cafe. Tried and True. Been coming here since '91.
