Dark horse has some seriously good items on the menu and it really wasn't too expensive. Beer list was good, the whiskey list was better. The inside felt a little dark but I did not mind. My crew sat outside around a fire table. The out door bar was not open but out server was excellent! Attentive, fast, and friendly. I will go back.
Our first server was very rude and was clearly not interested in helping us or trying to sell drinks either. I can't imagine why, since they were the most expensive thing on the menu and would have been over half our bill if the manager hadn't comped a round due to her behavior. It was a struggle to even get her to take a full drink order for the table without rolling her eyes. Thankfully, the manager and another server, Alyssa, who took over the table, both made a strong effort to make things right and we left with a mostly positive experience. The food was great when it arrived.
Stopped in for a drink and something go eat late on a Saturday. Unfortunate they had run out of most food items (busy place), however they still had wings and fries! Great whisky and bourbon selection, along with great wings. Smaller more dense meat, but that ok….it’s sold by the pound! Ghost pepper fry rub and sticky bbq were amazing. Service was great, prices were in line with normal downtown places, place was great! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quick bite or a good drink! Will be returning for the fresh pizza we missed out on…
I’ve really tried to like this place due to the number of reviews and high rating but unfortunately it is not good food at all. I ordered the fish and chips and cheesy grits as well as greens and shrimp for appetizer and everything tasted extremely cheap and flavorless. I also ordered a cocktail which was super strong and didn’t have much flavor other than alcohol. The staff is extremely friendly but the food is mediocre. I haven’t tried the pizza or the burgers so that might be what everyone typically gets. Unfortunately, I don’t think I would return. Also, they charge a 4% convenience fee which isn’t considered a tip. I wasn’t aware so when I tipped the 20% it was including the 4% that was the convenience fee. There’s also a message stating if you pay with cash, the convenience fee is waived, which I think is a little unfair considering nowadays everyone uses cards due to the pandemic. My bill ended up being closer to $200.
I really wanted to love this place. We always order wings to go and yesterday decided to dine in and try other options they have. The food wasn’t as good and found two different types of hair on my Brisket plate. They said they didn’t charge me for it but they definitely still did. I’m hoping someone is able to contact me with this issue
2 drinks and 2 meals = $85 bill - $100 with tip. This wouldn't' be a problem, but the food wasn't good.I ordered brisket - which apparently is slow cooked for 12 hours. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I nearly cramped my hand trying to cut through it. It was borderline inedible. I definitely suspect my meat was microwaved for a long time. I am not a foodie - I am pretty easy to please, it just was not good at all.My partner is vegan and she got the mock duck, which was severely overcooked as well. Fried to oblivion.Sometimes a restaurant can really just breakdown if you go in during a bad cook line or rushed shift, I suspect that was the issue. However, it's a pretty expensive meal and what else can I say? Restaurants are getting pinched by inflation, but so are consumers - which makes it even more important to deliver quality food.Drinks were delicious, service was fast, which is why I am not giving a two star review.
Excellent service in the midst of a St. Patrick's Day crowd. Food is not memorable. The wings under Starters on the menu were very small like the size of fat French fries and were all crunch from deep frying with very little meat on the bone. The wedge salad was undersized as well. My husband ordered A La Carte chicken with fries and a side of Cole slaw. His meal was nicely plated and tasted OK. We enjoyed our visit as the Dark Horse Eatery has a fun vibe and is close to CHS Field where we celebrated with the Irish dancers and musicians.
Brian the bartender took care of my order the cooks in the back (Quentin & Rachael) made sure I had an extra crispy N.Y.C style pizza and they did a hell of a job. I recommend this place not only for family but also for those that want good food & drinks mixed with customer appreciation. There is some locals that come in and just by the interaction you can tell Dark Horse is and will be a local Bar & Eatery favorite!!!
Great food and great customer service. They definitely deserve the 5 star rating.
To start the food was amazing as was the staffs attentiveness …. Love this bar been here many times … however a little put off that they allow on duty staff to clock out and immediately begin gambling to compete with their patrons they just watched and are still currently playing. I understand gambling is a risk and the odds of winning are slim, but it is awkward and wrong to have patrons compete against the staff whom is employed 2 min before at the same establishment… I find it in poor taste … won’t be back for a long time if ever.
