The food here was delicious. The peanut sauce that was served with the spring rolls were divine and the cream cheese wontons were almost savory. We had green curry with chicken and a spice 3. That was probably the max spice I could handle as a Midwestern white woman, but it was really perfect with the coconut milk and veggies. The fried banana with toasted coconut ice cream was perfectly creamy and not too sweet. Can't wait to come back and try more from their menu!
My friend D and I visited Coconut Thai on a Saturday evening. It was fairly busy but they had plenty of seating available. I would recommend making reservations for larger parties. The ambience was nice, staff was friendly. Food: Basil friedb rice (10/10) spice levels are good. Chicken Masamam curry (8/10), a little sweet but you can tell it was Masamam. Beef laab salad (6/10), I thought it was a little salty (too much fish sauce) probably needed a little more acidity to balance it out. Not your "authentic" Thai restaurant but it was a good first experience overall and I would go back to try other items on the menu.
The service was outstanding! We got the standard picks: chicken pad thai and chicken red curry. Fresh ingredients great rice and fast kitchen.
Great service and delicious food! A staple with our family and a gem on Grand.
We ate here last weekend! It was clean and just beautiful inside! The staff were very friendly and professional. The food was wonderful! We loved the Tom yum soup!
This is another example of a restaurant who's reputation is inflated because of good service and ambience but unfortunately, the most important thing, FOOD is disappointing.Nice, clean feeling Thai place with nice servers-- compare that to some of the Thai places on University avenue, which can feel quite run down and have little service. But the food was extremely salty and had pretty much no other taste. We got drunken noodle and squash curry. Drunken noodle is supposed to be semi spicy, but there was 0 spice and just pure soy sauce. In fact we could barely eat several bites of this before needing to take it home. As a leftover, I spruced up this dish at home by re-cooking it with fresh tofu, more broccoli, spinach and mushrooms, and didn't need to add any salt. Basically doubled the dish to make it finally at the right salt and taste level.I'll admit the squash curry was quite unique and novel. but it's hard to make curry taste bad. Interestingly, the ingredients in the dish were basically exactly the same as the drunken noodle. They just added a few chunks of pumpkin squash. So unfortunately, quite pricey and underwhelming food but good service. Was so hoping this place would be great!
Yesterday was my first visit after reading all the reviews and more than worth the trip from Woodbury. I had the Thai Pineapple Fried Rice heat level #2. Very mild heat if you like just a little heat. I am a real baby when it comes to spicy food and was a bit spicy for me. Staff offered to remake the dish. I did not ask for them to do so. I said no because it was not the spice level just me. Obviously I liked it enough to eat it and take leftovers home. My companion had the spinach and red curry (?). We split an order of pork egg rolls. He liked his dish very much and the egg rolls were divine. I will be back soon. Thank you Coconut Thai!
Pad Thai with tofu- So good! Great flavor, cooked perfectly, accurate spice level, great service, quickly prepared! I’ve eaten here many times and it’s always been 5 stars. There’s something to love about consistency :)
Very disappointed! If we had not been in the middle of a winter storm last night, I would have returned the Shrimp Pad Thai, the shrimp was way over cooked (like rubber) and the dish was VERY greasy, too greasy to eat. For over $20 I think Coconut Thai on Grand can do better.
Everything was wonderful. It was also packaged to go very thoughtfully to ensure everything kept its integrity.
