Bangkok Thai has been my favorite Thai restaurant for years, I've been a regular since they were in their first location. My reviews have always been high but today was a huge disappointment! My favorites are the Spring rolls and the Green Curry with mock duck. I ordered both for take out today. The Spring rolls had mock crab rather than fresh shrimp -- what's with that?? When I opened the container that usually held rice I was surprised to see noodles!!! Never, EVER have I been served curry with noodles!! Who in the heck is in charge?? They are closed Tuesday so I can't follow up with a phone call until Wednesday. I will certainly do that! Hoping ownership hasn't changed. If so, I'll think seriously about finding another restaurant!
We went to eat as a group of 8. The waitress messed up our order by bring out a duplicated dish that we didn’t order. After we already paid for our food, the old guy that is always at the register came back to us and said there was an extra dish that he wanted us to pay for it. He said, “You should take it back.” We said, “We didn’t order it. We thought it was already charged to our bill.” Since we touched it already, we just left it at our table and we didn’t know we can ask them to take the dish back. He took our card back again to the register. Just because he was rude about it, I went right up to him and asked, “Why are you making me pay for your employee’s mistake? If you go to an American restaurant and they messed up your order, they won’t make you pay for it.” He continues to say, “No, you take that dish back.” I said, “If you knew that was an extra dish, you should have taken it back in the beginning. Why did you let us eat it knowing that it was an extra dish and not charge it to our bill, but charge us after?” That to me sounds like a set up. I am fine if they charged it on my bill and not being rude about it. I was willing to pay for it. I told him, “You don’t run a business like that.” He then said, “Oh, I won’t charge you. Ok, ok, here is your card.” We will not go there again. Food was not all that either. Such a sneaky fraud service there. The last time I ate there, there was an insect on my food. Thought I give them another try…But I guess never again.
Good food and authentic. The problem is that they have alot of different item on their menu so its hard to pick what to eat. We tend to get the same things.
I’ve come to this place for years and their food’s always been really flavorful and came in large portions. Tonight, unfortunately, the portion sizes were at about 50% and the food tasted bland. My soup had maybe a cup of broth in it and was warm, not hot. On top of it all, I didn’t notice that the tip was already added into the total so I tipped twice.
Love the food as always but the service suck so bad. I understand they are busy but as a restaurant the servers should try to be better, especially because they charge tip already if you go in a group of 6 or more. We waited to get water, waited to put our order in. Not enough utensils for everyone, a few of our dishes never came out but we got charged for them still. Good thing we kept track and told them. Server also never came back to refill our waters or check on us. They need a utensils and water self serve station if they always this busy. I'll do it myself and just not tip!
Amazing food. It’s worth going out of your way to eat here. Their noodles are amazing so I definitely advise ordering some. For appetizers, my favorite is the chicken satay. So good with the peanut sauce!!My favorite item on the menu is the pad see ew. Very nice spicy with some sticky rice! Good for sit down or takeout but if you do takeout, make sure to check each item. I’ve had them forget items I was charged for a couple times.
A friend said to go to a different Thai place best there are a ton in St. Paul I accidentally went here! It was SO good! My comfort food is now Thai food! Thanks for being so good! I order the Green Curry as usual… I guess I should adventure out more but it so good plenty of food that I could let my wife taste mine too!
This place is consistently my Number 1 Go-To when I want authentic Thai food. It was my birthday this week so my sister drove up to the Cities, and told me I can choose whatever place I wanted to eat at, and that she'd cover everything. I've been craving Laab and Bangkok Thai Deli is the best in the area. Between the 4 of us, we ordered about 5 entrees + 3 soda's. My favorite dish there is the "Beef Laab" - my Mom and I shared it, and we still had a ton of left-over to take home; per Picture! The amount of Laab we got for $10 is crazy - because I've made it many times at home, and it would've costed me more if I had made it myself. We had ~5 entrees, but we didn't order Pho this time. Pho was $8.95 for a regular size bowl there - as of Jan-2022, I think this is by far the best deal in the entire Twin Cities. The staff there were also extremely friendly and attentive.
This is real Lao-flavor food!!!Yeah... my name is not very Lao but my wife is. She said that this is authentic Lao flavor.Don't come expecting the run of the mill Asian flavor, this is authentic Isan!Delicious!!!The service and the smoothies could improve (the smoothies more than the service) but still a delicious food experience. If you want the flavor from abroad without leaving home, put this restaurant on your "must visit" list!!!
Food was as good as i remember, pre-pandemic. Had their boat pho, esan sausage, chicken satay and wanted to try something new. I felt like seafood so we tried their jumbo prawns in bangkok sauce! It had good flavor, lightly breaded and sauce is tangy and sweet. Its not as spicy as it looks. Those are just red bell peppers.
