I had my heart set on the amazing carrot cake for my birthday. We drove 20 mins to get this slice of goodness. Come to find out they were closed early. I ask if I could get two slices to go and they could 100% say no. Instead they said yes and I was able to have delicious carrot cake for my birthday. The service is amazing and I would 100% recommend you go. Plus, the food is incredible. I recommend the bull bites.
Good food, slow service. The staff is not really to blame since the problem was that there were too few of them relative to the Friday night crowd.That said, if you have the time, the food is good. The huge popovers with the cinnamon sugar compound butter were delicious. I had the tasty prime rib (a more than generous "petite" portion) with lovely garlic mashed potatoes and green beans.
DO NOT COME HERE! My brother and I came here for Easter brunch as this was a spot our mom once loved before she passed away. We both got the brunch buffet and an orange juice and the bill came out to $120. We both dished up a plate and the food was cold and had no flavor, even the bacon. How does one make bacon with no flavor? After sampling the food and literally gagging, we skipped to desert because the Pecan Pie looked great. We also got cheesecake and lemon merange pie. There was quite literally NO TASTE in any of the 3. This was the first time in history someone spit out cheesecake. There was as 18% charge tacked on for Easter I am sure that the manager would not remove. When I spoke to the manager he offered to remove the drinks and that was all he could do. Bill was still 108 bucks before tip and I am so upset that I want to stand out front and tell people to go somewhere else. They will serve you dogs food with the servers smelling the smoke with dirty hands and clothes and not discount anything for poor service and tasteless food. AND they will charge you way more than anyone else and not even have a prime cut of meat, just dry ham and cold turkey. You have been warned!
A young man named Justin, who has only been working there 3 weeks at the time was the most impressive young man I’ve met in a long time. He was very attentive to our table, making sure we didn’t need anything and clearing our dishes when needed. He’s very personable and always had a smile on his face. Kudos Justin. You’ll go far in life.
We have been costumers of Axel’s for years. Recently, we had the Easter’s Brunch and last night, we returned for dinner. We ordered first soups. Onion Soup and Split Pea Soup. The Split Pea Soup that was the Soup of du Jour was horrible! It was like the last cup remaining of a very thick blended portion without peas and just a tiny cube of ham and some carrots floating on the extremely thick mixture. The thickness was obviously for the flavor that was made with flour and not for the thickness of the peas. Ugly taste and consistency, and, lack of quality! The Popovers were the best, however, they haven’t been baked with butter. They were big but, dry. And modesty aside, I’m an expert in Popovers. I am used to prepare Popovers at home. The Hamburger was OK. The Crab Cakes were good. The Chocolate Cake was very rich and delicious. The service was slow at the beginning. Later, the waitress became more attentive to us and friendly. Finally, she did a better job.
Male bartender was yelling at servers. Beer was warm, glass was chipped. Has to ask for silverware twice. Coco-bull app was very good. Probably won’t be back.

We haven't been here in a long time! Happy to be back! Service was excellent. Nancy was really busy but checked in with us often. She paced the meal well. The food was excellent! Steak was really tender and done to perfection! The sauce with the steak was delicious! Didn't feel rushed.
I ordered a Cobb salad yesterday for lunch It was formed in layers.all veggies e.g avocados, eggs were mushed along with lettuce $ topped with chicken , like an ice cream sundae.The chicken & veggies were so cold as if right out of refrigerator. Actually too cold. popover looked & tasted Like day ol.Very disappointing.I was at Axel’s in Roseville
