Having eaten at almost every sit-down Mexican restaurant in the Rochester area in the last month, La Poblana rates as the best among them. Their food is excellent, service and environment is exquisite. Most of the others rank high in these same areas; the huge difference is the welcoming, friendly and personal attention. As I walked through the door, an invisible and soon in person voice welcomed me and I instantly felt accepted and appreciated. Service was almost intuitive, mentally anticipating my every need. Even the trendy Mexican restaurants do not have this. Thinking it was just me, i mentioned this to a long time friend, who confirmed the absence of a welcoming environment in other Mexican restaurants.

Food was ok, nothing special, but $22 lunch? Ordered lunch special $12.95 or there abouts. Normally $14 for two enchiladas, rice, beans and fountain pop. Asked what pop and got diet coke. She brought me over a Diet Coke in a bottle. Then asked if I wanted chips and salsa and I said yes. When checking out I notice my bill was really high I asked why. Said chips and salsa we charge for. Really? You should’ve told me that. And you got a bottle of pop which does not come with it. She knew I ordered the special. Never said sorry or offer anything for the confusion/mistake.

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and recently moved up here and this is the BEST Mexican food I have ever had!

Great food. If you are on 37th street stop by they will make it worth your while. Damn good food

Great food and friendly staff definitely going to be in there much more frequently!!

Very good authentic Mexican food.. a little spicier what we are used to.. but good.

Ill-mannered drive-thru staff, and the food portions were underwhelming given the price.

"Wow" is all I can say! I had the steak fajitas and they were marvelous - tender and flavorful steak, grilled peppers, tomatoes, and onions, delicious tortillas, and a bit of guacamole to go with tasty beans and rice. Wow, I enjoyed them! Also a Wow for the real Coke sold in bottles from Mexico! So much better! We have not eaten out in a long time so I don't know about the typical prices in restaurants now - but for two lunches and two cokes I thought Wow at the $56 bill. I guess that is what it costs these days, but the food was plentiful and delicious and served by an excellent server!

Delicious home cooked tamales, Chile rellano, chips and salsa and so much more on the menu. Prompt friendly service, clean restaurant, delicious fresh, hot food.

Bummed out. We love it here. Today at 2pm was not your best showing. Waited over 20 minutes at the restaurant for our order, which is fine. We were excited to know it was coming out hot and fresh. But it wasn't. Anything that was supposed to be crispy was stale....the side of chips with salsa were old and hard, like pita chips (which we paid for). The chicken in mine was like when you leave a half eaten cooked chicken uncovered in your fridge for 3 days and the edges get hard and chewy yet also crunchy.....We'll come back, but wanted to give you a heads up that it was a poor showing today.
