A very cute place for breakfast/brunch in Rochester. A great vibe with very nice staff. Never had a pannekoeken before and it was pretty tasty. It must be a tradition for them to run it out of the kitchen yelling or singing pannekoeken!! once your order is up. Didn’t skimp on the chocolate chips either! Looked like fresh squeezed OJ which I should have ordered after I saw the machine. Also a fresh made bakery too for to go snacks!
I ate here twice during my week-long visit - what a fantastic place! I love the vibe and the food. For first timers or out of towners, when you first enter, there's a counter for bakery items to go. Walk past that to the check-in podium for the restaurant. (I thought the whole crowd was waiting for the restaurant but it was just the shop part.) I was solo dining both times so I ate at the bar with minimal wait times. If you have a big group and come on a weekend morning, prepare for a bit of a wait. There are fun signs all over and the wait staff are very on top of things and chipper. I never met anyone who didn't seem unhappy to be working there, it seems like a good workplace atmosphere (and I sat facing the kitchen both times.) I love how the servers sing a little pannekoeken song whenever they bring one out - it made me smile every time!I had the original apple pannekoeken on my first visit with a side of mettwurst sausage (which was HUGE) and it was all very good. But I loved more the staff favorite Dutch Skillet with potatoes, veggies, eggs, meat, and hollandaise sauce all together. It is VERY good. And it comes with your choice of bread, which I got a muffin to enjoy later. If I were coming with a group, I think it would be fun to choose from the savory dishes then split a pannekoeken between everyone. (Then save those muffins for second breakfast.) And for what you get, the prices are pretty reasonable. My bill was around $20 both times.
I cant believe I've been here for almost 2 years and just now found this place. Went out for late breakfast completely biffing on the fact it was Mother's Day... We thought the wait was going to be long, but surprisingly we made it to a table in under five minutes. The wait staff is great. Really really great. Like, a three lane Chick Fil-A drive-through level of coordination that kept up the entire time we were there (not without these amazingly sing-songy little "pannekoeken, pannekoeken" calls each time an order came out).Had it not been for the incredue staff, the food would have stolen the show. The Dutch Scramble was an extremely well executed dish, balancing both bold flavors and portion size in perfect equilibrium. We also built our own pannekoeken with bacon and sausage, which (against my normal aversion to sweet/savory mixtures) was delicious topped with a drizzle of maple syrup.I am remiss that it took two long years to stumble across this place, but now that we've met, I plan to visit again very soon!
Delicious food and really great staff! Can get busy on the weekends, so come early if you want a place to sit
If you aren’t from here and are looking for a true “Minnesota” experience I really suggest eating here. Our server was April and let me just say this sweet person sums up our experience here (We traveled from Atlanta,Ga. to go to Mayo). The hospitality both at this restaurant and across our travels to Minnesota have been noteworthy. The food here is different but in the best way! The servings are enormous and conversations plentiful. It’s the place you WANT to be. *Especially if you are a patient at Mayo sometimes you need a little extra sunshine-I’m convinced April Will even share a hug if you need it♥️FYI- “Hey y’all” it’s noteworthy to say I’m a proud southerner but I am stunned to experience the true warmth of the people here! It’s beyond random, it’s a fact. EVERYONE we have encountered here is the true definition of welcoming, generous, friendly, exceedingly helpful and loving. I’ve learned to forgive the lack of sweet tea- especially now that I’ve had the cranberry juice at Hollandberry Pannekoeken. Y’all go enjoy yourselves you can eat here 3 times and it’s ALL GOOD! Thanks to you all!
At first we were a little intimidated by everyone waiting. We had a party of 6. Fortunately it only took about 15 minutes on a Saturday to be seated. Mettwurst and spaetzle was awesome and husband had the apple pecan pannekoeken. Fabulous! Everyone was very happy. Only ding was the salad and soup arrived after the entree. We lived. Definitely recommend this spot.
Everything taste great! But you need to wait in line for a while to get in! I recommend this place?
Probably me all time fav dining experience. The food is beyond amazing. The staff are super friendly and it is really hard to not enjoy being in this place. We ordered staff’s fav breakfast plus a Pannekoenen. The breakfast portion was way more than expected and I think really worth the price. Their coffee is also pretty fresh. Our breakfast also had pancakes which was already way too much food. Definitely will go there again and again and again.
Wow! And I mean wow! The namesake #pannekoeken at @hollandberrypannekoeken is absolutely to die for! I ordered the #applepecan and I can’t recommend it enough. My wife had the #eggsflorentine and it must have been delicious too as she hasn’t stopped eating since it was delivered. Fast and friendly service on top of delicious food will have us coming back time after time!
My wife and I ate there yesterday and enjoyed it very much. We had lunch but my wife had the special baked pancakes and I had the chicken stir fry. It was excellent. We met the owner Tasos and were very impressed with him. He is a hands on manager and the type of owner we like seeing and meeting in a restaurant. This is a unique Dutch restaurant with so much to offer.
