A Night to RememberTwo weeks ago my family celebrated a wedding in Minneapolis. One half of the family had never set foot in the state, while the other half were native Minnesotans. On day 1 of the celebration we decided to do a family bar crawl and thought that the 1029 Bar would be THE Minneapolis spot to go.When I called the staff was gracious and accommodating. They let me know there would be karaoke, that they would reserve tables for us (all 80 of us) and even keep the kitchen open late. Talk about Minnesota nice, right?When we arrived - we had a night we'll never forget. We sang, ate the amazing food, drank the night away and generally had a really good time. For many of our guests, this bar will be their memory of Minneapolis.Thank you 1029 Staff!
Lobster roll - The roll was everything!!!! Could have used a 1/4 more lobster salad but it was deliciousLamb Sandwich - same roll…. Lamb and dipping sauce was good. I am not a big fennel fan but I wanted to try sandwich as is. I should have stated no fennel.Lobster mac and cheese is EVERYTHING! Would have given 5 stars if a little more lobster. Cheesy and hot.Cajun Fries were delicious with adequate amount of cajun seasoning.
With a wealth of apartments in 2 blocks of 1029, it's exactly what's needed for everyone to have their "local bar." We were impressed with the chicken wings, fries (wish I had some right now) and the mac & cheese. Inside is a 2 level bar with karaoke some nights and a great outdoor patio that seats a ton of people. We had solid service both nights visiting on a recent trip to Minneapolis - we'll be back.
As Dive Bars Go, this is a must experience kinda place. Fun friendly people. Women, bring an extra Bra, because yours just might end up on the ceiling. What a fun place.
DeRoy is an excellent Bartender and very helpful! I love his personality and kindness. His humor is fun too. He was great when I called to ask if I could pre-order my Lobster Mac and Cheese - because the kitchen was closing soon. Upon my arrival he was very cordial and provided prompt service for the remainder of the evening. He even walked me out the door and made sure I got to my vehicle safely. THANK YOU DEROY! I will be back for more L.MAK and your fun bartending!!!! ♡
Fun late night dive bar to attend with friends! We grabbed a corner spot at the bar and posted up the the night. The place was packed! We did not partake in the karaoke, but it looked like a good time.
The food was good and we had a friendly waitress.
Smack Shack at the 1029 Bar is good food! Don't let the tacky appearance of this dive bar fool you!
The karaoke DJs frequently lie to you about your ability to actually get up an perform. They will push you back in the order if people slip them money. They will put their friends ahead in the list. They will perform themselves when the list goes beyond bar close. They'll tell you at 11:00 to definitely sign up, only to cut it off at 1:20 and leave 5 people on the list. This place is trashy and not worth your time.
Met a few friends who were awaiting me, when I got seated and comfortable, bar tender ask for I'D and an Vaccination card. My friends said they were never carded and already received drinks.. There is no surprise why I won't be back?
