I absolutely loved this place! Not only is the atmosphere super adorable, but the service is great as well. There is a 21% surcharge for the servers because they don't allow tipping, but don't let that make you believe that you don't still get the best service ever. The pork tacos were fabulous, the walleye tacos were really great as well, and the broccolini side dish was incredible. I had one of their specialty drinks and loved how light and refreshing it was. Overall, it was a perfect evening. The bathrooms were pretty cool as well.

Based on the positive media hype and reviews, I was excited to try this restaurant. The restaurant recently opened it up to be a la carte vs. the prix fixe menu.We ordered the Korean fried chicken, mushroom birria tacos, lamb shank, and sweet potato mochi donuts.Korean fried chicken (6 pieces) was freaking delicious. The dipping sauce was also freaking delicious.Mushroom birria tacos was recommended by our server and it was very flavorful.Lamb shank was good, but not a dish I would order again. The pistachio topping didn't work for me.I love mochi donuts and sweet potato, but this dessert was underwhelming. For $11...not worth it.Love the decor and service was good. I would come here again and try other things.

In era where fine dining and pretentiousness are all to often intertwined, Sooki & Mimi stood out. Aside from the restaurant’s beautiful decor, the aspect of this restaurant that first stood out to me was it’s service. As I alluded to, the patrons here were warm and knowledgeable, without coming across as pretentious. My server, whose name I unfortunately did not catch, was attentive and accommodating to my party’s lactose intolerance. After briefly walking us through the entire menu, he made recommendations for menu items that would be best suited for an intolerance of this sort. Specifically, he directed us toward the Korean fried chicken appetizer, the frida salad, the duck confit and, of course, the DF rendition of their sweet potato donuts and chocolate mousse —all of which were nothing short of sensational. Furthermore, my appreciation towards the staff extends beyond my server. The hostess, food runners and chefs we interacted with were all respectful and warm as well. Sooki and Mimi is truly a Minneapolis gem. I look forward to this restaurant’s evolution.

We enjoyed everything. Very spacious, comfortable—nice atmosphere. Great service. Each course was inspired and interesting in their own unique ways. Some of the overall themes were: attentiveness to texture, interesting floral notes, great presentation. Not a great value, but no regrets.Aquachile Naranja 5/5Really features textures of fresh veggies. Refreshingly light with a slightly spicy broth.Frida Salad 4/5Super crisp and crunchy fresh greens. Might have been higher rating, but my serving included a lettuce butt.Chorizo Potstickers 4/5Freshness and spices of the chorizo were top notch. “Low-hanging fruit”, but still delicious.Grits and Prawns 5/5I’m not fully southern, but these are definitely the softest, creamiest grits I’ve ever had. Prawns were sparing (2/order), but were savory in such a delicate and interesting way, it was totally forgivable.Fish taco 4/5Nearly great. Awesome accoutrements. The walleye could be prepped better. It lacked seasoning and the mouthfeel wasn’t perfect. Could be better with fresh panfish?Mushroom Birra taco 6/5Six of five. This thing is so craveable and surprisingly light. I could be a vegetarian if I knew how to get so much umami out of veggies. It’s WAY better than actual Birra tacos. Not even close. Looking forward to their upcoming a la carte service so I can order two of these for myself ?

You had better love amazing flavors because that's what you are going to get! Amazing as always. I was skeptical about the fusion but 100% convinced. They were able to accommodate my milk protein allergy including dessert. Fresh, crisp, complex and delicious.

Food was amazing! There are three courses to the meal with an option to add a sharing plate. There were four of us- two guys and two girls- we all left stuffed! We did end up splitting a plate to share and a dessert. We could not finish all the food. Each course was incredibly tasty. We split many of the courses. My favorite starter was the cow tongue. I actually loved the grits for the second course. And the mushroom is by far the best third course. Only thing that would make this place better would be some ice cream for dessert!

Another Ann Kim’s master restaurant. Love the ambience, open kitchen view, friendly staff, vegetarian (may be vegan) friendly. The three course meals have really good options for different dietary restrictions. Would not say it’s the best food I had but it was definitely a good experience. Please make reservations WAY ahead (weeks/month) of time since it’s a hot place in twin cities. I was very excited for the one of the only two desserts on the menu (they do have desserts drinks) but they were out of Satsuma cream puff so I ended up having the Korean sweet potato mochi donuts and they were delicious.Perfect for a date night or if you’re looking for a different experience.

Lachelle: Let's go to Sooki and Mimi!Me: Yessssss!!!!They are located in Uptown, offering a prix fixe three course dining experienceA prix fixe menu is a type of menu that offers a multi-course meal for a fixed price. We were able to select one item from each course and share it with each other.I have never given a restaurant a 5* review, but after my dining experience at Sooki and Mimi, I may change my mind. Why?The restaurant gives me all of the feels of California. There are chili peppers posed as decor being dried in various spaces.&I love restaurants that aesthetically make me feel like I am not in Minnesota.&I enjoy food that brings me complete satisfaction, bite after bite where the flavors never leave your palette, like coffee breath.&The service was impeccable. Nicholas was knowledgeable and pleasant, a pure gem.&I don't have a single complaint.&I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve, patiently waiting for the next fix.Let's get into the deets of the gorgeous menu.Me:First• gravlax tostadacharred scallion cream cheese, everything bagel spice, capers, pico verdeSecond• hominy grits and prawnsnew caledonia blue prawns, salsa macha, fennelThird• fish tacosnopales, red cabbage slaw, avocado morita salsa, cilantroLachelle:First• frida saladgrilled radicchio, seasonal greens, cucumber, smoked labneh, cashew tahini, dukkah, soft egg*Second• tamalyellow squash, pipián, queso fresco, gremolata, salsa moritaThird• mushroom birria tacosconfit maitake, queso chihuahua, shiitake crema, vegetable consomméDessert• satsuma cream puffyogurt creme diplomate, orange curd• korean sweet potato mochi donutsdulce de leche, chocolate mousseCocktailCilantro Sourshochu, sherry, cilantro, pink peppercornRecommendations❗️✅ Make a reservation for best accommodations.✅ The bar is available; first, come, first serve and offers a bar menu.✅ Bring a friend or two so that you can share✅ Try going before sunset. The restaurant is pretty dim. If you want to take pics, you'll need adequate lighting.✅ There is a cool basement bar that you can access through the alley. There is no indication that you are going into the basement. Just open the white-ish door and head downstairs. They serve crafted spirits while playing 70's music from a turn table. No mic.

Incredibly memorable dining experience. We still talk about the mushroom tacos to this day. And the beef bulgogi tacos are on another level. Everything from start to finish was a talking point and very delicious. I was worried I wasn’t going to feel full with the prix fixe menu but I was proven wrong. I was especially impressed by the frida salad, which was surprisingly filling with its base of tahini. You really can’t go wrong with anything. Pro tip: the collins is the drink to get. It made my eyebrows pop up with how tangy, flavorful, and balanced it was. Really good. The ambience and service were also top notch. Low light, lots of wood and plants give the place a crafty, cozy vibe. The servers are friendly and happy to answer questions about the food. Overall, I left feeling very taken care of and I highly recommend this place without any reservation. Oh, without any reservation as in nothing held back. You should probably make a reservation though.

Delicious food! Very different and new flavors and great location. Drinks where great and also the dessert. The only thing that was not great was the service, it was our first time in the restaurant and our server didn’t explain to us anything.. we asked about some cocktails and no help at all.. even with the menu just short answers. It kind of ruined the experience. Maybe she was not having a good day.. but it was very uncomfortable for us.. specially for a pricy restaurant you expect some great service and experience.
