Another place we no longer need to go. My goodness how the standards have fallen since this was the old Obento-Ya.We’ve enjoyed the ramen in the past but this was such a sad experience. First of all it took 30 minutes to make 2 bowls of ramen. This is not acceptable. The restaurant was not even 1/3 full! The cooks and cashier were constantly chatting. Other tables were waiting as well. Truly bad service. The ramen was overly salty. The Kaarage was sitting in a puddle of oil. Not the correct way of serving this!!Sigh. Another place we can no longer visit.
A big disappointment for me. My buddy ordered the tonkotsu ramen and it was bland and tasted whatever. We read great reviews about the broth being rich and tasty so when we tried his bowl of tonkotsu we were definitely shocked to taste a bland bowl of ramen. I ordered the vegetable curry and I thought it was lacking as well. As much as I love tomatoes, I don't think they went well with the curry. The tomato was a huge chunk and I felt it detracted from the savory nature of Japanese curry as well as made the dish unappetizing to eat. The tomato wasn't even cooked down to be tender. I will say the chicken was fried so they had that going for them. Also the onigiri felt as if they were skimping on filling and you were just eating rice. One other thing that set me off was no gyudon. I feel like gyudon is one of the more simple dishes but they were out if stock. After all this I am still willing to try this place one more time because of the rave reviews it got. Hopefully the next time we get the head chef or something because this showing was not great.
The ramen was good.Disappointed with the service. Walked in and asked what was in the vegan summer ramen, and the cashier told me to go outside to read the chalkboard.Same guy couldn't tell why the veggie ramen wasn't vegan, seemed annoyed when asked, and didn't go back to ask a cook.First time the Summer Ramen arrived at the table, it had meat and eggs in it. This sort of thing happens a lot, but shouldn't.
Great ramen, super fun atmosphere. Definitely must try if you're in the area
Nice ramen, fair price, lovely atmosphere, good drink selection for a shop it's size. One of my favorites!
AMAZING food and wonderful staff! I ordered the Torishio ramen and it was TO DIE FOR. We also got an order of tonkatsu ramen with a side of karaage along with pork belly onigiri! Wonderful selection of items with a very welcoming atmosphere. Decorations look amazing with an anime-styled interior. I don’t know where this has been all my life!! 10/10!! ❤️
Good broth, well cooked noodles, but not quite enough variety of choices. The addition of condiments to add chili or additional flavors would have been nice. Solid ramen bowl, but not a stand out.
This is the best ramen in the Twin Cities. Don't even stress about where to get dinner tonight - if you are reading this review Ramen Kazama is your answer. The takeout is excellent as well.
The cozy and simply decorated Ramen Kazama delivers all the comforts of a Japanese ramen shop, including fast service, ice cold beers, and bowls of chewy noodles in deeply flavorful broth. The bowl of Tonkotsu I ordered was topped with slices of chashu pork, wood ear mushrooms, scallions, bamboo shoots, and a jammy soy marinated egg. The broth was unctuous and creamy, with a deep pork flavor and the noodles had a nice bouncy chew.Service here was prompt and friendly and I especially appreciated the attention to details like having glass mugs for the selection of Japanese beers.Overall, Ramen Kazama is an excellent spot for a variety of Japanese comfort food, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a ramen experience like the one you would experience in Japan, New York, or the West Coast.
Great ramen, and very friendly staff. One time I ordered online and put the wrong location in. When I showed up at the wrong one, they went ahead and made my order for me instead of having me go to the other location. Great customer service, would recommend
