I eat a lot of pho and this was the best for I’ve had in a long time. The owners Family travels back to Vietnam for authentic ingredients. Whatever they do for this broth is ridiculously good.
I remember the magical feeling I had when the first Lotus restaurant opened in uptown, ushering in delightful and uniquely flavored Vietnamese dishes.Alas, those days have long since passed. This Lotus location is worn out and tired. I ordered the garlic sauce stir fry. The plate arrived mostly filled with white rice and a small portion of stir fried cabbage (no broccoli or cauliflower) and a few pea pods and a single carrot ring. The sauce tasty only of salt with an over abundance of greasy oil, with almost no garlic flavor. I would say there were two ounces of mock duck. Spice level 3 was ordered and I would say there was no spice at all.The server we had was robotic. Outside was a bleak scene as well, the neighborhood as changed for the worse and made for an uncomfortable (unsafe?) setting. It’s time for a reboot.
The restaurant was a small eatery. Well maintained and good customer service. However, I tried Singapore noodles and that wasn't very good. Needed more salt and was not spicy even though it was marked on the menu as spicy. I wish the broccoli was a little more chopped, rather than the huge pieces. Some Siracha sauce made the dish taste better. Had Singapore noodles for the first time so it could be something with the recipe rather than the restaurant.
Excellent Bun Bo Hue and Egg Rolls. The Kung Pao Chicken and Imperial Chicken were very average - nothing special. The Fresh Spring Rolls, while big, have a bit of an odd taste to them. They almost smelled/tasted like they had pumpkin in them. I believe this was due to however they pickled one of the vegetables inside. Not my favorite, l'll be honest.
We had a late lunch at Lotus recently. It was well worth the five-minute wait. My husband ordered spring rolls and mango bubble tea to share and garlic sauce with tofu and relished that. The spring rolls were crunchy fresh and delicious with the peanut sauce. The mango tea was interesting with black bubbles. I ate half of my large order of savory beef fried rice and took the other half to the hotel to refrigerate. A table of grad students were traveling and so left half their orders, a crime.
Tried the sesame chicken entree, it was really good!
Really great service. Servers were very friendly and attentive. I had the pad thai with chicken and it was really delicious! Also very reasonably priced.
The food was great. I’ve never had Pad Thai like what they served. Also the oyster wings were really good. Everything came at a reasonable time.I do have to be honest about the parking though: not the best. I couldn’t leave right away because someone had to park behind me, so I ended up stuck in the parking lot. Thankfully it was way to find the person so they could move for. The restaurant Diane have a lot of space so it’s understandable, but still not the best.Overall experience was good though, and I would recommend to try it out.
I've been going to The Lotus for at least 15 years and it's good every time! This is the BEST quick Asian takeout in the cities, if you ask me. It's a little pricier than your average Asian takeout but not really by that much and the food is definitely worth it. My favorites are the pork eggrolls and the stir fried rice noodles but I don't think I've ever gotten anything I didn't like so it's kinda hard to say.
Great food Great valueI love Lotus Restaurant. I am always greeted with a smile by a friend. All of the dishes are delicious, full of flavor and character. As a vegan with non vegan family members I am very happy to find a place that we all can find food we enjoy. My favorites are Lo mein with mock duck and vegetable fried rice add tofu. My husband's favorite is the Singapore noodles and my son likes the Pad Thai.If you like Thai and Vietnamese food - or you have never tried it - you will love every item on the menu!
