First, the food was amazing. Fun, adventurous, and delicious. On top of that, the service was excellent. Friendly and approachable staff, and all the personal touches acknowledging our anniversary made it special. Impressed!
Next level japanese cuisine. The dishes were elegantly presented and paired with sake for each course.
The experience is phenomenal!
Stopped in with my husband to the Gori Gori 2nd floor bar on Saturday night. Great cocktail menu. Whether your taste is Japanese whisky or skew traditional (Negroni was tempting) or fusion, you’ll find something here to please. My first cocktail was a seasonal tropical, melon concoction with a hint of shishito pepper heat. My second was a boozier take on a Vesper, garnished with a salty Japanese plum. Both super tasty and unique. Beyond the Artfully prepared drinks, other details in the bar service are easy to take for granted: Japanese music at just the right volume, dark hued walls and perfect room temperature create the Zen spa-like backdrop; custom stamped ice cubes are eye candy in your glass. The three lovely ladies behind the bar were super attentive, answered my many cocktail questions, knowing we were only staying for a couple after dinner drinks before heading home. If this is how they treat the drinks, I’m definitely trying the food next time. Total class act.
If I could give a million stars I would. We had the large omakase to celebrate SO birthday. We felt so taken care of sitting at the sushi bar from start to finish. Every dish was a a new flavor adventure and then once we hit the sushi part it was like fireworks. I have never had better sushi in my life (and this includes fancy places on the coasts of the US). The details were so delightful. SO had the sake pairing and was thrilled with the variety and pairing, I had two of their house old fashioneds. We had the best experience, right down to the Polaroid photo taken and given to us at the end. Oh and the valet service was fabulous. Thank you for such a lovely evening!
Fantastic food and service I recommend this to anyone who loves sushi. Best I have ever had.
My friend and I had the Take menu and experience. We really enjoyed sitting at the bar in front of the Sushi Chef, watching them create the incredible foods we ate and chatting with them about their background and the food they prepared for us. The food was exceptional, high quality ingredients and simple yet dynamic and with depth of flavor. The cocktails were excellent, too. I had the Sotoku, Vesper, and Kado old fashioned, all of which I recommend (especially the old fashioned). We also loved the ambiance of the upstairs dining and whisky bar, which were quiet and intimate. We both thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and highly recommend it!
At Kado no Mise, Minneapolis’s premier sushi restaurant, no detail is overlooked. From the elegant, minimalist decor of the restaurant to the precise execution with which each dish is crafted, diners can expect a thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyable experience while dining here.As part of the omakase menu, we tasted through a wide variety of starter and nigiri sushi which were all incredibly fresh and flavorful. Each piece is hand made by expert sushi chefs immediately before it’s served to you, ensuring the freshness and quality of each bite. Some standouts included the winter yellowtail, as well as the Hokkaido uni, and the wild caught bluefin chūtoro. Each of these pieces was packed with flavor and allowed the diner to explore the unique texture of each fish. Unlike many sushi restaurants in the US that rely on deep fried rolls and spicy sauces to add complexity to their dishes, Kado no Mise let’s the quality of their seafood speak for itself. The spirits selection at Kado no Mise is also excellent. They have a wide variety of Sake, wine, and cocktails that all pair well with the fish being served. With the knowledgeable guidance of our server, we opted for a clean Junmai style that was expertly crafted and was also affordably priced. If you’re a fan of sushi, and are looking for a way to experience a wide variety of fish prepared by masters of their craft, I highly recommend Kado no Mise.
Ordered the Matsu for the $145 experience, first time back in the building since the old Origami, lots of memories, but the new remodel is a beautiful modern style with a Japanese touch. The food came out in what seemed like an endless wave of fresh delicious Japanese food. Freshest I've ever had even on the coasts. It appears that Kado no Mise is shooting for a Michelin Star, and honestly they would problem be considered if Michelin Star were to come to Minneapolis, it's that good. So besides extreme near perfect quality of food, flavor, presentation, valet service, hosting, and serving service, what struck me the most is how I felt after the experience. It was more refreshment head to toes than 2 hours at a luxurious spa! A truly magical experience, and my new favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. 1 Michelin Star :)
Amazing authentic keiseki dinner place. Head chef and owner Shigeyuki is a wonderful host! The meal was prepared perfectly and he even put up with my awful Japanese speaking. Very polite, very professional. We had the omakase (chef's selections) and I was a little afraid of getting something I wouldn't like but everything was fantastic. The restaurant itself is immaculate. Very clean, and organized, and considering the square footage, the space is utilized very well. The Lemon Beach drink is awesome.I can't say enough good things about this place. It's the best Japanese in all of Minnesota, and may be one of the best kept secrets.I can't wait to come back! Arigatou gozaimashita Furukawa-san!
