I have cooked Mexican at home for over 10 years and have eaten in a number of Mexican restaurants over the years as well ranging from hole in the wall to upscale places. I really hate to say it but Colita just didn't do it for me. Yes, the food tastes good and it's all yummy but Mexican food, if done well, is a flavor explosion at every bite. I didn't experience that at Colita. Ugh :/ The space is so beautiful and the server was so wonderful & knowledgeable & kind, it's a bummer that the food didn't knock my socks off. The other thing that bugged me: The chairs are a tad too low for the table! Ugh! No fun feeling like a kid paying adult prices for food.

Expect to wait longer than intended. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time, then after ordering we waited 30 minutes between each dish. The staff were clearly overstretched and were unable to provide updates on the delay. Once we finally got our food, I was mostly disappointed since over half the dishes were underseasoned. The final nail in the coffin was the terrible dessert, which absolutely ruined the meal. The churros were raw and doughy in the center. The tres leches cake was too sweet and tasted like a plain vanilla cake with bananas. The saving grace of the meal was the guacamole and tlayuda. Unfortunately I would not recommend this place to a friend. I'd only come back if I were forced to attend an event, otherwise I will actively avoid this restaurant

We had such a lovely evening at Colita! We liked the tapas style menu, it was nice to be able to try so many different items between the two of us. The kitchen staged the meal well and always had the next item ready as we finished a plate. The tuna tostada and churros were my favorites, and my husband enjoyed the shrimp and pork tacos. Everything was flavorful, and I especially enjoyed the blue corn used in the tortillas. We sat on the patio and it was an awesome summer date night. While the price point does make this more of a special occasion restaurant, we had a fun and relaxing time and will be back again.

This place was outstanding. From the service to the food to the overall vibe, I wish I could give it 6 stars. Food was unique and inspired, cocktails were fantastic, ambience was awesome. Our bartender Cody was friendly and thoroughly knowledgable about every facet of the experience. Can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely fantastic! This is not your typical Mexican restaurant! Had reservations, got seated about 15 minutes after our reservation time. All the food and drinks are all very unique. This meal was one of the best tasting adventures I have had. The service was exceptional! The place is rather expensive but worth every penny. I want to go back.

Absolutely amazing food, especially the desserts! Wish I had saved more room for them, but could only manage a few bites after all the other amazing foods I ate.

Excellent food, great cocktails too!

I am a big fan of Colita! It does not have an outrageously huge menu to the point that I do not know what to choose, and it has a good enough variety that allows you to feel like you have choices. The portions are not huge, but in turn the food does not make you outrageously full. First of all, the churros is a must! The most creative and delicious churros I have had! Then the cacio e pepe stacked tostadas is a go to dish as well! After that I will recommend the lamb barbacoa tacos. The aguachile is great as well, but you do not feel close enough to full after a plate. Overall I strongly recommend everyone visiting this place at least once, and make sure you reserve a week ahead!

Great patio!! Cocktails were excellent, food was great too and the churros for dessert were especially amazing!

Excellent Oaxacan Mexican food with great drinks and amazing service. We had the Charred Eggplant Tostadas, Corn Elote, Tlayuda, Squash Salad, Mushroom Tacos, and Pineapple Almond Cake (for dessert). The pineapple almond cake & mushroom tacos were definitely the stars! The corn elote was pretty run of the mill. Would suggest skipping. The other items were quite good.
