Great neighborhood gem. Friendly owner and employees, feels nice to get away from snobby barista culture, they source a lot of coffee from Wonderstate Coffee out of Wisconsin, and that is, in my opinion, the best quality coffee in the Midwest/North. They also have buns and cereal among other snacks to nibble on, huge space in the back and a patio area in the back.
Quaint...community coffee spot. Trying the Stirato roll with maple almond butter...They also gave a Potato roll too. Chai is on the sweeter side with just enough hint of spice. Service is warm and space has a good vibe....Current Playlist is a whole vibe.
This is our favourite Coffee Shop in the Twin Cities area. The ambience is great and well lit. They have a good working space available. The coffee here is fresh. Love their Cortado. It's Super strong and wakes you up instantly. The owner is friendly. Loved their toasts too.
A coffee shop that gives off “afternoon at home in your own living room” vibes. The ample amount of seating combined with neighborhood scenery to gaze at while daydreaming just makes it something different from all the other coffee shops. Giving it four stars because their matcha is not great. The drink was tasty, but not what I consider a matcha - it wasn’t even green. Their chai is good though and they have little snack bars as well as ginger beer…unique options that help them stand out.
This place is honestly the best coffee shop in Uptown, and the owner is super friendly. They also have a window, and dog treats which is super awesome for stopping for coffee while I have the dog with me!
My son missed his school bus and had to walk here to wait for me because it was cold . The staff was rude to his because he's a black teen. I called his phone and asked to speak with one of the employees there and let them know this was my son and I was coming to pick him up I just wanted him to be warm. They refused to talk to me. Shame on the employees at canteen coffee.
Quality of coffee exceeds the price point, nice homey snacks, and with friendly, down-to-earth service you’ll find the most solid neighborhood coffee joint in South Minneapolis. Minimal, clean, welcoming, contemporary but not pretentious, Canteen gets the job done and then some. There’s a reason everyone who comes by is a regular.
I’ve been going to Canteen consistently for 5 years—the space is so sunny and great for studying/working, enjoying a quiet morning by yourself, or meeting up with a friend on the patio. Love that it’s woman-owned (the owner is great) and very much a neighborhood spot. Excellent coffee and house-made treats (granola, bars, nut butters/jams). Also appreciate the new addition of the walk-up window.
Delicious cortado and homemade walnut butter, and one of the kindest people I've ever gotten a morning coffee from - and I've had a lot of coffee :)
Small shop great banana bread and good coffee, does have a walk up window
