BLG was recommended to me from a friend who lives in the area. Made a reservation online (super easy) about a month before our trip up to MN. Our waiter was great, Food was delicious and timely even though it looked like they had a full house. It's a bit loud and the tables are very close to each other-so it's not a quiet romantic type of ambience. You can wear jeans and button down to dress slacks and sport coat. Waiter surprised us with candles on our dessert since the reservation mentioned our wedding anniversary. Would definitely recommend this place!

My husband and I love Italian food so when visiting different cities we always seek out the best. Bar La Grassa is SPECIAL! From the staff to the food, you’re going to experience a level of service and quality that is hard to find. We sat at the bar and the staff was not only accommodating but very friendly and informative when it came to interpreting the menu. This is authentic Italian food at its finest! We were in awe of the food, it truly surpassed all expectations and isn’t the normal Italian food you would expect - their menu is unique and special. We would most definitely recommend this place to everyone!!

One of the best overall meals I've had. From the cocktails to the appetizers, entrees and dessert, everything was top notch. We left full but not stuffed, and completely satisfied!

I had a Negroni which was very well done—not too bitter, but still had that classic harsh taste that comes from a true Negroni. The Pasta Nera with Mussels and Braised Tomatoes was out of this world! Super good pasta dish, I will have to come back just for that. The only complaint I have is the music can be a little odd/not fitting to the atmosphere at times. They were playing metal and some other weird music at a high-end Italian restaurant… humm.

Delicious pasta, many options for vegan / vegetarian. The portion is just right so that you don't end up wasting the dood. All dishes have complex flavours and we just loved eating them...

Always a lovely time here. Book reservations on their website at least 2 weeks in advance. Valet parking runs $12 right now but street parking will run about $6-8 for 2-3 hrs if your lucky to get a spot. There’s a parking ramp down the block right next to the building with covered parking with only a 3-5 min walk. There’s nothing bad on the menu but our favorites are lobster egg bruschetta, chicken (deboned and flattened) and the mushroom “noodles” as a side dish.

Italian food is everywhere. Great, creative, and inspired Italian food is a rare find. Bar La Grassa is such a place! Upon entering you'll immediately feel the vibe and energy that fills the space. Staffing is extensive and that's impressive and appreciated these days. Not only are they well staffed, but this staff displays passion for their jobs and you'll discover they're exceptionally well trained. The menu is just the right size, offering a creative and broad selection of styles and taste profiles. Based on what we sampled, each and every dish is exceptionally prepared and presented. Flavor abounds! We began our meal with their Big Caesar Salad to share. This was well prepared and topped with high quality anchovies. We followed that with a real star of our night, their Soft Eggs & Lobster Bruschetta. Magnificent! Think soft, velvety scrambled eggs with succulent lobster chunks atop a crisp bruschetta! Our server told us this was the top seller in bruschetta and it's easy to see why. For our main course we chose three pasta's, served family style for sharing - Gnocchi w/Cauliflower & Orange, Mushroom & Taleggio Agnolotti, and Fusilli w/Orange, & Kalamata Olive Lamb Sausage. We all agreed that the Agnolotti was the best dish of the three, followed by the nicely spiced Fusilli, which had some heat. The Gnocchi was mild, almost a bit sweet, and had excellent texture. We finished our meal with two desserts, their spectacular Tiramisu and their Dark Chocolate Budino. Both were immaculately presented, full of rich complex flavors, and perfect Italian desserts. To finish it all we took advantage of their coffee and one of the most extensive amaro menus I've ever seen. We chose three different digestifs from this list and enjoyed each of them immensely! The entire experience is evidence as to why their Executive Chef & Owner, Isaac Becker has won the James Beard Award. I highly, highly recommend you to give yourself a chance to experience this creative and inspired Italian.

Everything is great about BLG! the service, the starters, the people watching (both staff and patrons), and every dish they make! I highly recommend sitting at the pasta bar for an up close and personal look at the kitchen and the expo staff, it's like a well piled machine! So impressed!Get the soft eggs and lobster bruschetta, you won't be sorry!

My wife & I went last night for the very first time! We both work in the North Loop and we both serve so it was our first time having a Friday night off in a while. People have been raving about this place so I thought it'd be time to check it out. The food was excellent, the cocktails and wine were outstanding. The atmosphere itself was beautiful to look at. Our food runner kept busting some rhymes when dropping off our plates which was a delightful surprise and made it fun.The only thing that kept it from getting five stars was the service. Our server kept interrupting me and my wife mid sentence when we kept placing our order. It felt a little off-putting. At one point I asked her to tell me about one of the cocktails listed and she simply just told me the ingredients that were on the menu instead of describing the flavor profile, or what it's a riff off of. Overall, it felt impersonal. It didn't feel like an experience, it felt more like a casual dinner. I will definitely come back though.

Wow wow wow. Bar La Grassa is a dream and I am incredibly thankful that my friends were able to snag a reservation during my short trip to Minneapolis. We ended up getting 5 different pastas, drinks, and a couple desserts and ended up sharing all the food. Out of the items we had ordered, the standout pastas were absolutely the Cavatelli w/ rabbit sugo, foie gras tortellini, and the squid ink . For dessert, we got the cheesecake and the tiramisu. The cheesecake was remarkable and I would go back just for the cheesecake alone. Top notch spot.
