I would give this 3 stars, but there were a couple HUGE red flags that droppes it to 2 stars.First...all in all, the food was decent, just not a very large serving for the price. Second... the 1 and ONLY bathroom is around back and basically in the kitchen area. It definently needs some attention and cleaning, and had i used the bathroom before I ate, i probably would have left with out eating.Lastly... EVERY garbage can was full... there were 3 people working, we were the only sit down customers there, trays were stacked on the garbage cans, ash trays havent been emptied in who knows how long, (i dont smoke, so didnt bother me, just something i noticed) yet the garbage couldnt be changed? So basically the food was ok, i havent gotten sick yet so thats good. Probably wont ever go back though...

Think its pronounced “Sans”. As in sans gloves, sans fast service, sans taste, sans Mexican. You would be hard pressed to identify what meal I ordered by vision or taste. The burrito was something like a scoop of sloppy joe mix with maybe a little fajita seasoning in it? Here’s the one positive…. it was hot. This gave me a little hope I would not get sick from workers handling ALL food with bare hands. Ordered at counter and waited 25 minutes for food, place not even half full. Not like anything was being prepared fresh. Three workers looked like they had worked hard labor all night, but they close at 9pm? I think it was an enchilada, it was unrecognizable, served next to 2 tablespoons of completely unseasoned refried beans. The rice had what I think was tomato paste mixed in, in was shaped like the scoop that plopped it on plastic clam shell. Hot sauce was plastic packets of jalapeño sauce, I used 5 -6 packs on everything as I was actually hungry. The iceberg lettuce had “french”dressing on it, which was a perfect “What moment?” for me. Then it all came together, this place is no more a Mexican restaurant as “french dressing” is French. It’s the perfect Minnesota cliche of a Mexican restaurant from 1987. If you have not eaten Tex-Mex food in forty years, this might be your spot.

Zanz is always my favorite place to grab a quick meal when i am in mankato. Fast, friendly service and great tasting food at reasonable prices.

I've been comming to Zanz since I was a young child and in all those years, I don't think they've changed their winning formula at all. Many restaurants have declined a bit over time, but Zanz has kept everything just right. Delicious food, great staff, and a very informal atmosphere have made Zanz a favorite among my family for over 30 years. The Hot Cheese Chilitos are out of this world! The taco burrito is also excellent.

Love the food altho this visit was kinda upsetting with the service. At least taking the order. After we got out and ate the dood the food was great as usual.

It's been 40 years since it was Zantigos when I lived here. It has actually gotten better. I always ordered the hot chilitos and they have more filling now than they had then. The flavor is still great but with the extra filling so much more flavor and more filling. I hope Zanz keeps their staples and can grow their menu without hurting their base.

I have been eating here for 30+ years now and tonight was an exceptionally good night! The 3 gentleman working tonight were so polite, respectful & caring. They took the time to make sure our meal was good & they. Using sir & mama, this world could use more like them!

The Chilitos are literally the best ever. Kinda spendy and I can never remember which day they sell them discounted but totally worth it.

I am not sure why all the negativity? I just got my first order from Zanz and it’s delicious and the prices are very affordable! Oh and it tastes wayyyy more authentic than Taco Bell which it seems to be compared to a lot.

Zanz is the best! I moved to Rochester 6 years ago but still have to get zanz Everytime I am back in Mankato! 2 hot chilitos one with sour cream, bean and cheese burrito with sour cream and jalapeno peppers. And the best Spanish rice!
