I recently ordered takeout from China Star for a family dinner. Upon picking up the food, we noticed that several of the sides we had selected were not in the bag. So, midway home, we turned around and returned to the store. I brought the bag of food back in, and explained that the sides we had selected (and paid extra for) were not included in the order. The representative at the front desk explained that the reason they were left out was that we didn't order dinner specials. I then took out my phone and showed her the receipt, clearly showing D6 and D22 off the dinner menu. She then seemed to talk in a circle for a minute, but ultimately said that we would not be getting the included sides.Upon opening the bag and starting to eat, we noticed some serious quality issues with the food, with the foremost issue being the lack of meat. For example, a more appropriate name for the "Mongolian Beef" would be "Mongolian Onions with a morsel of beef". The dish was at least 90% onions with 3 very small pieces of meat in it. Another dish, Beef and Broccoli, was about 90% Broccoli and less than 10% meat - unacceptable in both cases at a price tag of $15 each.Ultimately, I would highly recommend avoiding China Star. With the omission of key sides that we ordered, the quality issues surrounding the dinner entrees, the dishonesty of the staff just to save a few dollars, and the high price tag, everyone would be better off eating almost anywhere else.
Was charged additional money inexplicably, and when I contacted DoorDash support, I was told that the store added the charge directly and claimed they were “adjusting their menu price” for a special request of no broccoli in sesame chicken. DoorDash charges enough, and I’ve never had this issue, but I don’t think I’ll be ordering here anymore after this one. I don’t appreciate them changing menu prices on me for seemingly no reason.
Food is better then most places I have been definitely recommend service is great and the portions are perfect
I've tried China Star a few times, and each time I am not impressed. The food is either under or over cooked. When asked for 'hot' and was given just more fried onions in my Generals Chicken. Not spicy or seasoned at all. If you are looking for quality Chinese food... avoid this place. It's not worth it.
Lost customer to poor service!!! Waited 45 minutes for take out order meanwhile 5 customers who ordered behind me got their orders first. Time before they gave away our online order and made us wait 40 minutes. No compensation for their mistakes and very poor customer service
Extremely slow service. Had to wait and extra 20 minutes in the lobby because they hadn't even started my order even though I had placed an online order over an hour before. Wanted my entire lunch break and wasn't even able to eat lunch. Make sure you order more than 2 hours ahead apparently.
It's been one of my favorites until now. Is it me or did the shrimp get smaller?. A bit disappointing for now otherwise a great place and always busy which is ??
Best Chinese food in Mankato. Everything is made fresh and hands down beats any Chinese food in a 30mi radius. We go here for lunch regularly and they never disappoint!
Rice is very good here! Got sesame chicken as well and it tasted very good. I will for sure be ordering food from here in the future.
We did an online order. We arrived 2 minutes after time it was stated to be ready. My wife waited in a crowded area 25 minutes for food that should've been ready. Give priority to online orders or what's the point
