First time at Volstead House for a happy hour with girlfriends. No one ordered whiskey but the wine, cocktails and appetizers were great! Alcohol is a little on the pricey side but we were ok with that given they were very good quality (not standard bar pours). Best unexpected treat was live music!! A male vocalist with an awesome voice that I would love to hear again sometime. Will go back again soon but with my husband who appreciates whiskey!
This place is a hidden gem. Love the work that goes into the theming of this place. I have seen people post reviews of this restaurant complaining that its "in an alley", and it "doesn't have a pretty view". My response to them is: IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A SPEAKEASY". It being hidden and not easily seen from the outside/etc is the point. Love that you have to go through the door of a false restaurant to get to it". The cocktails here do not mess around and are taken seriously. The food here is pretty good as well. Overall, loved the experience and will be back!

Fun place! Fantastic if you love whiskey; there’s about 5 pages in tiny print of types to try. Nice atmosphere, great service and good food. I had “The Devil Made me Do It” with a flask hidden in a bible. Fun drinks!
The wings (all except the dry rub) are great. The spirits list is amazing, but the service from the bartender was glacially slow, cold, and he treated us like an annoyance. As we were being seated the bartender (a gentleman wearing a classy white patterned button up shirt & suspenders) actually cut me off by stepping immediately in front of me while my party was being seated. If I hadn't come to a rapid stop I would have plowed right into him. He didn't say a thing or even look in direction when it occurred. The gal who swung by our table was nice, but it took an insane amount of time to get our bill despite one of our party openly brandishing a credit card.
Such an incredible gem for Eagan. Very unique and charming. Their selection of cocktails is endless and you can always ask the bartender to make you something on a whim. They often have live music and their patio is a beautiful space you can enjoy almost all year round as they keep it open early spring to late fall, and sometimes in the winter for ice bar. Follow them on social media and you will find yourself missing this place and wanting to go there the instant you read their post.
I rate restaurants based on their commitment not only to the food but to their sauces and drinks and this place hit it out of the park! Absolutely delicious meal!
Volstead House is always a great place to go for cocktails. It has a very pleasant atmosphere that I believe you will find quite surprising. The food is quite good as well. Brian is an excellent bartender, always willing to make that special cocktail for you. If you want to try something new, I'm sure that he can create something you will like. If you tell him the the type or brand of liquor that you enjoy, given their excellent selection, I think that he can mix a cocktail that will satisfy anyone's taste. I would suggest that you call ahead to reserve a seat or 2 at the bar, a high top or one of the booths that can accommodate larger groups, as they are generally quite busy.
