What a pleasant surprise! Wanted to have a date night on a Friday and found this place on open table. The food was delicious! We had the tour of Jerusalem, the steak humus, and this cheese they flambe which I am forgetting the name of haha. Everything was great. Highly recommend also that you sit on their patio outside if you get the chance. Will definitely be back!
Gyro meat on a burger?? Who would do this!? Well, I'm glad Ansari's does. Because next to pulled pork on a burger, this might be the best burger meat combo ever!Wowsa. Both the gyro burger and the traditional gyro were simply mouth watering. The tzatziki sauce didn't hvae a ton of tlavor but their spicy seasoned sour cream (I think that's what it is) was so good we'd buy a 5 gallon tub of it if we could! The falafel bites were also delicious.Service was fantastic, good outdoor seating area. Will definitely be back even though we have to travel from the north metro.
I want to start off by saying there are thing to like about this business....like....It looks to be a FAMILY RUN BUSINESS!!! (Big plus for me!!!!) The staff was very friendly! They have a lot of beers in tap! And some of the food was very good! I am not normally a "buffet" guy...but a family member picked it for "Mother's day brunch"...and the buffet was....ok....They had some sauteed vegetables that were amazing! The food was always stocked and was to temp....but there were some shortfalls that bothered me.....I am not sure how much of the food was made from scratch....the pita bread had to have been "store bought"....and the gyro meat looked to have been boxed meat they finished on a grill? Both in my opinion huge "no-no's" when servings Mediterranean food! If you don't have a vertical rotisserie....you are not a Mediterranean restaurant! The meat was fine....but they didn't even have tomatoes to accompany the meat....(maybe a supply issue? In this market it could have been....)The kabobs looked to be from scratch but were VERY salty! There was some "American food" options as well (eggs...bacon.... cheese hash browns) and I had SMALL portions of them just to get a taste....and they were fine.... Finally...there was the bill....we knew the price before hand...and understand that for "Mother's Day" the price may be inflated...but when our bill came....they added 20% for a required tip as we had six people at our table! 20% for a buffet? On already inflated prices? Our service was fine....and I know there are plenty of restaurants fighting to stay in business....but 20% required tip for a buffet is just not right.....Who knows....we may be back...the food was overall....good! People at our table stated they enjoyed it....but I will pay close attention to what I order asking questions like "is this made from scratch in house?"...when we go....and how many we have in our group....
Hoping Trip Advisor will update info - this place is, as of April, 2022, available to dine in as well as take out. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and were delighted with the food. SOup and the appetizer sampler platter were enough for two people. LOTS of people here and we heard from friends it is locally popular. We understand why. Strongly recommended.
Inedible and tasteless. Tasteless , that is, except for the bitter burnt falafel. Visited yesterday late afternoon before the Saturday rush with 3 friends. Ansari's was half empty at the time. Unfortunately, I am a big fan of Mediterranean cuisine and I will not return. The St. Paul/Minneapolis area is full of great classic and wonderful innovative restaurants. Don't waste your time and money here. My Middle Eastern Salad (almost $18 : $14.99 plus $3 for the "lamb Shawarma') was a total waste of money. The Mediterranean salad with lamb shawarma stood out as the most amazingly unacceptable item served us: Chunk rubber would probably be easier to chew (or even cut!) than the rock-like garbage liberally strewed over the top of the limp and lifeless green bed of something (lettuce, maybe?) put before me. One could only guess that the so-called meat had been over-cooked weeks ago, then reheated and placed under a heat lamp for hours to further toughen and dry out. It was amazing how difficult it was to even cut the 'lamb'. Chewing and swallowing was near impossible. Here's their menu description: Fresh salad greens tossed in tzatziki with a scoop of hummus, falafel, & gyros. Topped with cucumber, kalamata olives, pepperoncini, tomato & onion. **Olives may contain pits** Sub Gyros for Chicken Gyros for $1 or Shawarma for $3. Even the non-lamb items described were pathetic. "Fresh" did not even come close to describing the lifeless and limp state of the gloppy greens. Two tiny 1/3 inch items were probably thrown in to give the impression that Kalamata olives were included, per menu description. No tomatoes, no cucumbers and no onions. My "Falafel" (and that of my companion's) - although acceptable consistency - had been over fried to the point of have that distinctively obvious bitter burnt taste. Does anyone in the kitchen ever taste or monitor what they're sending out to the public during service hours? I half expected Gordon Ramsey (Hell's kitchen tv show) to come screaming out of the kitchen and shut the place down. I'd been pressured by my companions to again re-try Ansari's after the current pandemic restrictions had eased. What had been marginal in previous years has definitely now gone further downhill. The only amusement was when the wait-person showed up with the bill and asked me if, "Do you want to box up your dinner?" A quick kick under the table from one of my companions reminded me that we had other places to go that night.
Wide range of delicious Greek foods to try and enjoy. The saganaki is an absolute must! The falafel and lamb sliders are my personal favorite, but we have tried many items on their menu and they are all good. They have an extensive beer and drink menu with lots of info for each to review. There is belly dancing and hookahs as well. Easy to find and lots of places to park nearby.
Dinner was absolutely delicious! Great service from the staff. Family friendly, entertainment that made you feel relaxed and truly enjoy yourself.
Wow! The best Mediterranean food in the metro! The staff did an outstanding job and we will most certainly be back for more! Great job!
