I just ate the best lemon bar I’ve ever had! I love lemon desserts but they are almost always too sweet. Not so here! Every part worked together: the lemon part was tart, not too sweet, and had an almost fluffy texture. The crust was crumbly and had a subtly complimentary flavor.We also enjoyed the bean hand pie, Gruyère croissant, plain croissant, and almond croissant. It was a humid day and the croissants were still flaky and crisp, not cakes like some croissants can be.We got there at 10 on a weekday and they were out of some things and there was a line to get in!
My wife can’t eat soy and we’ve found she can eat almost everything in the display cases. And we do! Wonderful place. Wish there were more places like it!

Excellent bagel selection, great texture for a bagel. Love that whole grains and sweeteners like honey, molasses and cane sugar used for bakery products. Cookies are dynamite- favorite is jitterbug- stocked up for items to bring home and freeze until the next trip to Duluth!

A genuine worker-owned co-op and a Duluth staple for decades. The worker-owners are vibrant, socially conscious, lovely humans, and the treats are to die for.
TL;DR - Great pastries and cookies with helpful and friendly service!Was looking for a bakery to get some good pastries and happened across Positively 3rd Street Bakery while scrolling around Google Maps. Since many of the negative reviews spoke specifically about the promoted politics (which has NOTHING to do with the quality or taste of food), I thought I'd give them a try and was so glad that I did!We stopped by the bakery on our way up to our cabin and were so impressed we had to stop by again on our way back. Got a few different items:Cookies: Soft, tasty and big! Overall we tried a total of 5 different cookies and each one was fantastic. Have I had better cookies? Probably, but these are up there with the best no doubt!Pastries: Had a caramel croissant, Spinach Gruyère Danish, Gruyère - filled Croissant, and a chocolate filled pastry. The pastry in all cases was buttery, light, flakey, and had a wonderful crispiness to them. Overall some of the best I've ever had!Now lets address a common complaint: Cost. Yes, the baked goods here are going to be more expensive than what you'll get from a major grocery chain's bakery section but is also infinitely better. They aren't cheap, but they are reasonable considering the quality of product delivered. The cost of the goods reflects the quality of ingredients used, the extra time to for the comparatively smaller batches, and the fact that the money is going to the people behind the counter and not some large parent company only seeking to drive higher profits for shareholders. If you support the concept of a living wage, then for small independently-owned businesses, that means higher prices.Overall, Positively 3rd Street Bakery is positively wonderful! Definitely worth a visit if quality bakery goods are your thing.
If I could eat their almond croissants everyday, I would. They’re so buttery and flakey and delicious. Highly recommend stopping here and picking up some treats if you’re in town!
I never knew a croissant that I wanted to eat so quickly and also eat so slowly because it was so good I wanted to gobble it up, but also savor every moment! The gruyere croissant was so delicious, I think I'm going to see it in my dreams!
So amazing! My partner and I are driving through and needed some lovely bread for our xmas stew. Julianna was absolutely delightful on the phone. I asked weird questions and swore in excitement about suggestions. They handled it like a champ 12/10 recommending.
The cashier was super nice and answered all my questions. Prices were affordable and I love supporting small businesses!
