My wife and I stopped at OMC on a weekend away from the cities because of the glowing reviews. Well let me just say they did not disappoint! The staff was some of the friendliest people I have ever met and very attentive to your needs. The food was out of this world smokey, savory, food coma inducing bliss! (I ordered the platter/combo that came with a bit of all the meats and two sides which I chose Jalapeño grits/Mac and cheese).... I also have to rave about their grits quick as well. They were slap your momma in the face good (please don't) but you get my point... I'll be seeking out a grits heavy meal next time I'm in town they are that good. (I love grits but it is an easy food to mess up and OMC is the best I've had since I was down South in the Virgina/Carolina area.... Oh! I almost forgot... Try all of their sauces as well each one is packed with mouth punching delicious flavor! (Most of all the White Sauce and Carolina)... 10 out 10 I'll be back and suggesting this to anyone that will be in Duluth even for a day.
Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. The pork rinds were a pleasant surprise. The sauces were very inoffensive. Variety with no risk taking.Cream cheese peppers were good. Cranberry sauce was weird but the smoke flavor on the outside of the peppers was a pleasant surprise.Country fried ribs were interesting. Way too much salt on the breading, but despite the double cooking of the ribs...inside the breading they were juicy and tender enough. Claims to be St Louis style. A bit of a stretch but not unimaginable. One of the sauces the waiter called Korean BBQ flavor.... It would be laughed at in Korea. Negative points for phoney fusion flavor. The "Alabama" sauce was probably the best of the sauces but needs a LOT more kick. All the sauces were ok, but very mild.Cole slaw very tasty but a bit dry.Collard greens very average.Overall fine. Better than many, but not 5 stars.
Some friends who live in Duluth gave us a strong recommendation to eat here so we came here for dinner. Even in April, the place was packed. We had to wait for nearly an hour to get seated but we were able to get drinks beforehand. During this time we sat outside and cooked smores over their fires. When we got seated, we had some very nice cocktails, including the porch swing punch (which was well-balanced and sweet) and a sangrita. My wife had the barbecued chicken ranch salad which she raved about. I had the OMC combo which also tasted spectacularly. The OMC stands for Oink, Moo, and Cluck. There were 4 different barbecue sauces available. One of my sides, the beans, had good flavor with a little spice. Generally a young crowd with friendly staff and a nice casual ambience. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
I can appreciate what they are trying to do, but don't mess with the basics of BBQ. Their meats are salty and over cooked. Their sauces are bland and very ordinary. I have been to some of the best BBQ places in Texas and Kansas City. This place would not last long in either place.
we had a fantastic meal, I personally hat catfish sandwich. Everybody liked their meals. Ryan was our waiter and he was so helpful and knowlegable. Will come again sometime.
This was our 1st time here! Everything was so delicious! Our waiter was Ryan & hats off to him, he was great. Thanks OMC!!
we stopped in for some appetizers..wow. amazing. nachos solid 10 out of 10..beef fat fries were phenomenal and the wings...full wing, full flavor. great place and well definitely stop again
OMG for OMC. What a super awesome atmosphere with friendly staff. BBQ at its finest, with a great flavor profile. To top it off the story of how it happened in their cook book. Hats off to this gem of a place.
We have been here several times before and always had a great time and great food. This weekend we were back and lolling forward to a delicious meal. We were pretty late getting there like about 9:00. The drinks were great but the food was a disappointment. Usually the pulled pork is great but it was greasy, stringy and very salty! I’m guessing because it was the bottom of the barrel so to speak. The ribs and the brisket were better but still seemed extra salty compared to other visits. Service was great and sides were good.
We first had dinner at OMC about a year and a half a go, and we had some great ribs. We so looked forward to our second dinner two days a go. Unfortunately, this time the ribs were overcooked, dark in color, dry, and only slightly warm. We made the best of it by adding extra sauce combinations to be able to enjoy eating them. We are glad we had the bacon blue cheese potato salad it was amazing, and our server Cori was great.
