Love the view, not a fan of the new menu but I go gor the view anyways.

Short staffed, new waiter, and food itself was inconsistent.. presentation not ideal. Online menu did not agree with actual menu. Our waiter was very sweet but did not know how to open a bottle of wine, present food or options. Was not knowledgeable about items on menu (wine or food) and started off our conversation with multiple items that were not available. This was not a fine dining experience. At $100/customer, my expectations were higher. Lovely view.

We tried dinner at the totally revamped JJ Astor’s…the Apostle Supper Club. To be completely clear, our visit was on the 6th day they were open.Always start with the positive. The management seems super pleasant. We’ll touch on that again later. The ambiance is also delightful. It’s still the normal rotating restaurant, with some tidily revamped decor. I love the midcentury vibe, furniture, and food choices. My grandma would have felt right at home here. The less-positive…they are definitely having opening kinks. The night we were there, they had double booked everyone due to a technology error. They were booking on two different reservation systems and yikes. They ended up having a paper waiting list for those of us who had reservations. We got a drink and sat in the “lounge”. Why I can’t be served food in the lounge is kind of beyond me. At least snacks? There were side tables with many of the seats and I feel that we could have been served, perhaps. We did get some drinks and settled in for our wait. The bartenders seemed overwhelmed and slow, and our drinks, although delicious were inconsistent. The first and second Tom Collins didn’t taste the same. The wait staff is…green. A table next to me tried to flag down a passing hostess (not a waitress) for salt, and she told them they needed to ask their server when she came back. Um, what? The waitress we had, however, was phenomenal. So, hit and miss.Once we were seated, our server got us settled with another cocktail and some fondue. It was delicious. Thick and tasty. My one complaint is that it was served with forearm-sized broccoli trees. Maybe some more bite-sized, eat with a fork foods? The salad that came with the entrees was sad. Wilted romaine and overripe tomatoes. But then entrees came! For entrees, we got the Chicken & a Pickle and the Chicken Fried Lobster. Both were delicious and generously portioned. If I was to order one again, it would be the chicken. The pickles taste like they’re made in house and the chicken was juicy and delectable. In short, I think they’re having some opening kinks. I think it will be great after a little time to settle in to their groove. I’ll be back though.

Food was decent and it's obviously a unique experience to be rotating-it was my son's highlight of our trip. Nevertheless, the service was lacking big time. My sister had to get up and fill her own water glass four times. They should probably invest in a bus person to clear dishes away in a timely fashion too like Duluth Grill does.

The food was amazing, the staff and environment was wonderful.

The food was delicious! Our server was personable, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. We were a party of 5; 2 filet mignon, 1 chicken fried lobster, 1 chicken they were $98.00 for both. Still worth it for me as it was truly delicious and perfect! However, I do think they should tell folks upon ordering. All in all, highly recommend the experience! We saw an ore boat, watched the bridge go up and the view was incredible.

Made reservation a month ago. and when we arrived, they overbooked, and we never got to keep our reservation that we truly wanted to keep for our special engagement celebration. We had to leave. And go somewhere else that were booked up already. Very disappointing and sad.

I have gone to JJ Astors twice in my life and regretted it both times. The first time, the fish was undercooked so we sent it back. They brought out the same piece of fish after trying to reconcile their first mess up. The second time the fish came out, it again was slimy and undercooked. I made the mistake of giving JJ Astor a second chance. The second time, the food came out extremely undercooked and the waitress was awful. The chicken was slimy and purple on the inside. We ended up trying a couple bites of the chicken but had to send it back due to the scare of getting sick. Our waitress had an attitude the entire time and messed up our drink order multiple times. I ordered an old fashioned but ended up getting a clearly shaken Manhattan. SHAKEN Manhattan. Not only was the drink incorrect but they also broke the golden rule of a Manhattan must always be stirred, not shaken. I also ordered a glass of Pinot Noir; however, I never got my glass of wine. I ended up asking for my glass of wine a second time, but it still never showed up. Finally, we ordered a piece of cheesecake because of how hungry we still were due to the horrible quality of our entrees. We ate about 3 bites of the cheesecake and couldn't eat anymore. It was dry and unflavorful. I have tasted more moist and flavorful sand on the beach than this cheesecake. The only enjoyable part of dinner was the view over all of Duluth. However, I would highly recommend going up to Enger Tower to get a great view of Duluth instead of paying for an extremely overpriced meal that isn't even as tasty as McDonalds. I will never go back to JJ Astor ever again as I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant in my life. Never would I ever recommend this horrifying excuse for a "nice restaurant" to my worst enemy, let alone anyone I actually like. Go at your own risk.

Our experience at J.J. Astor's was quite pleasant. We appreciated the free dessert for my husband's

We go for the view if the bay and city ftom the only rotating dining room in duluth. The food was good but not for the elevated price range.
