It was better when it was puppy's. They used to have this wicked cold nitrogen tap for 1 beer. The beer would come out colder than 32 degrees. It was awesome! Until they got rid of it. Now barrel house is "just another dive bar" nothing special
We have been here before and had a great experience. Just visited there again and will not be back. Sat at a table waiting for quite a while before we got a server as I had to hunt one down. And then when our food came the burgers were over done and dry. When a person pays $12.50 for a burger it should be cooked as ordered. Disappointed to say the least.
The Barrel House has great atmosphere that fits all ages, and the food is amazing! Wished I loved closer, but plan on making it a stop every time we are in the area.
Stopped in for a Wednesday brunch. Was surprised by how busy it was for the lunch crowd. Pleased they serve breakfast all day. We've frequently dined here in the past when it was Pappy's and B and K's. Still churning out some excellent breakfasts. Everything and Spinach Omelets had a nice little sear to their exteriors with tasty bacon, sausage, and ham. Meats and veggies were sauteed well enough to give them extra flavor and color. Hash Browns could have been a little bit crispier. Pancake was a little on the dark side. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! Really enjoy the up north home cooking feel. Will definitely be back. Great job!
Went here for the first time with my wife this morning and didn't know what to expect, being it's a newer place. I was expecting "hipsterly" diggs but is your basic small-town feel cafe, which is a GREAT thing to have in CR besides all the bars which can be... eh. We'll be back for the small-town feel atmosphere!
I am rating this overall...we have been there multiple times. Good before because we went back. This last visit is what I am rating it on. Walked in waitress((1 we never seen before, younger gal)) greeted us. We sat down 10 mins. Later still no menus..no beverages. Finally waitress came over took out order. Others came in got seated..menus right away. Our order was placed my burger was charcoal burnt((now I did say well done)).ugh..Hubbys food was fine. People who came in after us got their food before us..hmmmmm. I got a burger and he got an omelet. I asked for ketchup ..never got it..another waitress came by and I asked her for it with refills..she kindly got them. Little upset with this visit. It will be awhile before we go back. Hoping it was just an off day. They were some what busy but typically their is 1 waitress who works and she is amazing..this time there was 2 . Others walking around. Not sure on their postiions
Great family owned Cafe where you can get a hearty breakfast while you sit and read the paper, and everyone is just chill.Got the Barrel House Breakfast Special and was impressed with the flavor of the foods (needed salt, but I get them cooking with less with so many trying to cut back, easily solved) and also with portion size
The Barrel House is a very fun place to visit. The staff is always friendly, and the food is like home style cooking. I keep coming back and it's always a good time.Drew and Shawndee are great people you should stop in and support their business you won't be sorry.
Always have had good service which is why it's a 2 instead of a 1 food has been disappointing my fiancee and I have tried dinner there 3 times and finally tried breakfast my pancakes were dark brown not to far from being on burnt side my fiancees egg on her sandwich was over easy instead of medium and almost underdone hash browns.
Great place, good atmosphere friendly staff and clientele. Food is excellent, can't beat the prices.
